Vanilla Fudge
π Vanilla Fudge
#PsychedelicRock #HardRock #ProtoProg
55 years ago Vanilla Fudge from New York, #USA released their self-titled debut album.
#VanillaFudge is a collection of cover songs, widely considered revolutionary and seminal for the entire Hard Rock and Progressive Rock genres that will follow. The songs are in fact played half-speed with slow extended heavy sound and arrangements, something never heard before!
The cover of #TheSupremes "You Keep Me Hanging on" charted both in the US and the UK and was a huge success.
The other covers in this album are songs by the #Beatles, #CurtisMayfield, #SonnyBono & #Cher, #TheZombies, #TradeMartin, alternated with short instrumental tracks.
Vanilla Fudge were:
#CarmineAppice β drums, vocals
#TimBogert β bass, vocals
#VinceMartell β guitar, vocals
#MarkStein β lead vocals, keyboards

The album contains #TheWho signature singles "Pinball Wizard", "I'm Free", "See Me, Feel Me/Listening To You" (the latter inserted in various parts of Tommy and sublimated as closing track)β€οΈβπ₯

High Tide
π Sea Shanties
#HardRock #PsychedelicRock #HeavyMetal
55 years ago, some say in September, some in October, some in December, High Tide from Northampton, England, #UK released their debut studio album.
At the time #HighTide were poorly considered, if not ignored. In retrospect Sea Shanties is regarded as one of the earliest Heavy Metal albumsπ€
The violin of Simon House (later #Hawkwind) omnipresent throughout the album, surprisingly contributes to deliever a heavier sound!
This is often labeled as #ProtoMetal, #ProtoProg, Proto whatever, to me it's always been like The Doors met Black Sabbath!
The instrumental "Death Warmed Up" is one of the most mind blowing pieces I've head β€οΈβπ₯
In this album:
#RogerHadden - drums
#TonyHill - guitars, vocals
#PeterPavli - bass
#SimonHouse - violin, organ
