πŸ“œπŸ’₯ 21 March 1945. "Bomb Day" in Venice... and still today we have aftermath πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ.
I just took a picture of the Church of Santa Maria di Lourdes here in Venice Mestre πŸ“·β˜οΈ, I guess some of you can remember it, 5 minutes walk from my #VeniceRocksRoom - home, next to a bar we used to go.
This church was completly rebuilt after World War II (you can see a picture of how it was like before). The story is... war was about to end in 1945 but the Allies decided to bomb πŸ’£ Venice #Marghera Port β›΄, because they believed this was the only way for already defeated German troops to get supplies from the sea. In the morning of March 21 RAF (British Royal Air Force) airplanes heavily bombed Marghera port in what was called Operation Bowler.
As it always happens in war bombings... something gets "wrong" πŸ˜”, therefore many buildings in #Mestre got destroyed, the church in the picture too ☝️
Venice historical centre was fortunately preserved from that πŸ™πŸ»

🎼🎸🎷21 March 1952. Exactly 70 years ago, a date to remember in Cleveland, Ohio!
A guy called Alan Freed, who was already famous among both black and white youth for his radio program The Moondog Show, managed to organize what is widely considered the first Rock'n'Roll arena concert ever πŸ€ŸπŸ‘
The concert featured music that Freed used to play in his radio show, performed "in person" by the artists as the above poster says πŸ“œβ˜οΈ

The Moondog Coronation Ball lasted only for few songs for security reasons: more than 20.000 youngsters gathered in a place which could fit 10.000 😳
I guess many of us need to thank Mr. Freed πŸ‘πŸ”₯

Zebra
πŸ“€ Zebra
#HardRock #PowerPop #AOR #ProgressiveRock

40 years ago Zebra from New Orleans, #USA released their self-titled debut album.

#Zebra (founded in 1975) gained a cult following in the years having toured extensively the US mainly as a cover band, that's why this record became the fastest selling debut album for Atlantic Records.

Hard to think that 2 totally different, if not opposite, worlds like 70s Progressive Rock and 80s #HairMetal could ever join... it happened in Zebra!
This Power Trio (a la Rush) was perfectly at ease in touring and opening for both πŸ‘‰ Yes and πŸ‘‰ Twisted Sister!

Superb work from guitarist, vocalist and band leader Randy Jackson and one of my 1980s favorite albumsπŸ€˜β€οΈβ€πŸ”₯

Zebra were (and still are):
#RandyJackson β€“ guitar, vocals, piano, Mellotron, synthesizer, percussion
#FelixHanemann β€“ bass, backing vocals, keyboards, strings
#GuyGelso β€“ drums, backing vocals, percussion

Death
πŸ“€ Symbolic
#DeathMetal #TechnicalDeathMetal #ProgressiveDeathMetal

30 years ago Death from Florida, #USA released their 6th studio album.

In my opinion Symbolic simply tops every Extreme Metal album, it's the quintessence of the genre masterfully performed and, needless to say, it's widely considered #Death best effort, the peak of the band's career and of Chuck Schuldiner's creativity.

Flawless, immense, immortal ❀️‍πŸ”₯

In this album:
#ChuckSchuldiner β€“ guitars, vocals, bass, producer
#BobbyKoelble β€“ guitars
#KellyConlon β€“ bass
#GeneHoglan β€“ drums

Additional musician
#SteveDiGiorgio β€“ bass
