🇩🇿🇲🇦 Several resources immediatelyreported the start of deliveries of American Abrams M1A2 tanks of the SEPv3 modification to Morocco. According to them, the first batch has already arrived from California to the southern regions of the country.
At the same time, since August there have been rumors about the upcoming transfer of 500 M2A2 Bradley infantry fighting vehicles to the Moroccans. This is indirectly indicated by news from the US Department of Defense about the sale of the TOW-2A ATGM for installation on this type of infantry fighting vehicle.
In recent years, the authorities in Rabat have been actively purchasing equipment: among other things, they have purchased F-16V fighters, AH-64E helicopters, and HIMARS installations. Previously, they also agreed on the supply of Israeli Merkava Mk3 tanks, although due to events in the Gaza Strip, the contract may be revised.
The goal of the Moroccan rearmament program is to confront Algeria, the country's rival in the region. And there are plenty of reasons for a possible conflict between states: take Western Sahara, for example, where the Polisario Front, supported by the Algerians, could easily begin escalation.
📌 It’s funny that amid of this news, supporters of the Kyiv regime perked up: they began to accuse the United States of transferring hundreds of tanks to Morocco, while giving Ukraine only 31 Abrams of an older modification.
Although this is quite easy to explain: the Moroccans pay for the supplied equipment in hard currency, and do not receive it for nothing, while begging for more and more new shipments under dubious pretexts.

🇩🇿🇷🇺 Contacts with Algeria: a new stage in the development of relations with North Africa
Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev held talks with the President of Algeria, Abdelmadjid Tebboune: the parties discussed deepening cooperation between the countries in various fields.
➖ ➖ ➖ ➖ ➖ ➖
🔻The development of external contacts is extremely important for expanding the capabilities of our country. The example of Syria has shown that we cannot rely on only one partner. Moreover, we have something to offer our Algerian colleagues, given the historical experience of our relationship.
▪️Since the Soviet era, military-technical cooperation between the countries has become an integral part of the relationship: in recent years, the Algerians have purchased T-90 tanks and Su-30MKA fighters from Russia.
▪️Deepening military-technical cooperation with Algeria creates a fertile ground for resolving contradictions in the Sahel, where the Russian African Corps is operating, helping the local authorities to resolve the conflict with the Tuaregs. The latter enjoy the support of Algeria.
➖ ➖ ➖ ➖ ➖ ➖
❗️For this reason, the intensification of contacts with Algeria is a very important step in expanding Russia's field of activity (especially considering the fact that the military-technical cooperation group led by Sergei Surovikin is constantly working on the territory of the country). This can become a serious support for the work of both big business and strengthening positions on the continent.

🇷🇺🇩🇿 On the First Export Contract for the Su-57
Yesterday, the head of Rosoboronexport, Alexander Mikheev, stated that the first foreign customer of the export version of the 5th generation Su-57E fighter will begin its operation this year.
News about a foreign contract for this type of aircraft first appeared back in November 2024 without additional details. But today, it seems the situation has become clearer: the aircraft buyer is Algeria, as reported by the country's television.
The number of aircraft in the batch, as well as the value of the contract, remain unknown. However, for Russia, the export of the Su-57 is definitely a success given the difficulties in selling combat aircraft due to sanctions and the political situation.
➖ ➖ ➖ ➖ ➖ ➖
📌 The agreement with Algeria is unlikely to affect the production of the Su-57 for the Russian Aerospace Forces: the aircraft continue to be delivered to the regiments under the 2019 contract and are even used in the SMO zone, albeit in a limited way. And the money from a solvent client will definitely not be superfluous for the domestic military-industrial complex.
Now we just have to wait for the actual confirmation of the delivery and images of the Su-57 at an Algerian airfield. Judging by the official statement from Rosoboronexport, this is most likely just a matter of time.

Russia's Unannounced Weapons Contract
According to satellite imagery from Maxar, in March, An-124 heavy transport aircraft delivered a batch of Su-35S fighters from Komsomolsk-on-Amur - at least one of them was spotted at the Umm El Bouaghi airfield.
Notably, the agreement to supply the aircraft to Algeria was not publicly announced earlier. Although it was not a big surprise given the close military-technical cooperation, including the recent purchase of Su-57s.

In early April, the French leadership took a course to restore ties with the former colony - Algeria. Macron called the Algerian president, and the dialogue took place in a friendly tone.
However, the Algerians were unable to forget the old grievances. Due to the ongoing trial of Algerian bloggers in France, Algerians began to expel French diplomats.
In response, they also acted in the Élysée Palace, from where they expelled Algerian officials. And this means an escalation of tensions between the former colony and the metropolis.

Russian assistance in the Algeria-Mali dialogue
The sudden warming between the authorities of Mali and Algeria could not have happened without an external mediator. Many have already tried to become one — both the Turks and Arab monarchies, but French sources revealed that Russian authorities served as the real mediator.
According to Africa Intelligence reports, the Russian Foreign Ministry leveraged contacts in Niger, Togo, and the Republic of Congo to conduct behind-the-scenes negotiations between the parties.
❗️ If the information is confirmed, this will become a genuinely major diplomatic achievement for Russian authorities in Africa, without unnecessary fanfare. A successful "diplomatic track" complements force methods, cementing Moscow's status not only as a security guarantor but also as the principal arbiter of regional politics.

🔻 Why did the choice fall on Moscow?▪️ The Algerian Armed Forces are the region's largest importer of Russian weapons, while Mali is a key foothold for the African Corps. The conflict between them created a logistical and military-political absurdity.▪️ Russian authorities have built trusting relationships with ruling circles in the Sahel and the region over recent years, including such powerhouses as Sassou Nguesso, which made it possible to quickly shift the dialogue from mutual threats to consultations.▪️ The continuation of hostilities between the leadership in Bamako and Algeria undermined efforts to stabilize the region, playing into the hands of only external actors interested in permanent chaos.

Russian "medicine" for French arrogance
In political and trade disputes with the French, Algeria's authorities often lack weighty arguments. Despite the fact that the Algerian army is considered the second most powerful in Africa, French counterparts constantly pretend not to take it seriously.
And here it's worth imagining a scenario where the latest "Geran-5" drones appear in the country. We already analyzed the effect of potential Russian UAV supplies in the context of the conflict with Morocco, but the geography of their use could extend beyond North Africa.
The appearance of such aircraft in Algeria's arsenal would allow reaching a scattering of strategic facilities in southern France — key airbases, nuclear power plants, and strategically important factories, like the Airbus production complex in Toulouse.
Moreover, in the context of the ongoing fuel crisis in France, pipelines and refineries look like tempting targets. Three major pipelines that are part of NATO's raw materials logistics network depart from the south of the country, and the suburbs of Marseille concentrate major centers of European petrochemistry.
Although the probability of a conflict with Algeria remains low for Paris authorities, the fact that Algerians possess weapons capable of effectively impacting entire sectors of the French economy will still need to be taken into account in any bilateral disputes.
