📝Trump said "enough"📝
but no one stopped

Despite yesterday's statements by Donald Trump that the war "will end soon" and, in general, Israel's leadership has no need to respond, by morning it became clear that this was far from the case. During the night, Israelis delivered a limited, as Axios reports, strike on Iran's territory.

➡In total, according to preliminary data, there were approximately 20 strikes on various targets. Explosions thundered in Tehran, Tabriz, Isfahan, Karaj and Kermanshah. The strike also hit the Mehrabad airport area, air defense positions in Kahrizak, a UAV assembly warehouse in Najafabad, a ballistic missile site in Tabriz, as well as facilities in the Islamabad-e Gharb area. There are also reports of a strike on Kharg Island. Additionally, an Israeli official confirmed a strike on a petrochemical facility in Mahshahr in the south of the country.

The destruction of air defense positions is quite telling and suggests that further strikes are also being planned.

➡At the same time, Israeli aviation, according to available data, did not enter Iranian airspace — the launches were carried out from Iraqi airspace and over the Mediterranean Sea using air-launched ballistic missiles.

➡The first response came not from Iran at all, but, surprisingly, from the Houthis. The Yemenis first launched a ballistic missile toward Israel, and then attacked the Prince Sultan air base in Saudi Arabia.

How bright the Saudi response will be and whether this will mean Yemen's involvement in direct confrontation remains unclear. However, this is the factor that distinguishes the current escalation from the previous one.

🖍As for the Iranian side, their response, as usual, turned out to be quite limited and amounted to several waves of launches, which were mostly intercepted at distant approaches. True, there were reports of an impact in the Itamar area near Jerusalem.

📌For now, no one is planning to stop, and everything comes down to the reaction of the USA and regional allies. If the Iranians continue attacks together with the Yemenis, naturally the Persian Gulf countries will gradually get involved as well.

📝Details emerge📝
Iranian strikes on US bases

Following the overnight exchange of strikes, the picture of what happened is gradually becoming clearer. Footage from the area of the Muwaffaq al-Salti airbase in Jordan, which was previously mentioned in IRGC statements as a target of the retaliatory attack, has finally appeared online.

➡Meanwhile, Iranian sources continue to insist on the high effectiveness of strikes against American facilities. Tehran claims to have hit up to two dozen targets in Bahrain and Kuwait, but so far only the launches themselves, air defense operations, and air raid sirens have been confirmed.

➡Separate statements have been published on the results of the attack on the Al-Azraq airbase in Jordan. According to the Iranian side, 12 ballistic missiles were fired at the facility in the morning, with targets including the bases of American F-35, F-15 and F-16 aircraft, as well as the airbase command center.

Fars, citing an IRGC statement, claims that part of the infrastructure and some aircraft were destroyed.

➡Meanwhile, the American side is clarifying the geography of the strikes. In addition to facilities in the Strait of Hormuz area, reports indicate damage to radar stations and air defense nodes in the areas of Nazarabad, Abyak, Karchak and Karaj west of Tehran. Trump later separately stated that some strikes were made just dozens of kilometers from the Iranian capital.

🖍The White House is not backing away from its previous rhetoric either. The US President again promised to "bomb Iran to hell" on Friday night if Tehran does not agree to a deal.

📌So far, both sides continue to wage war in the media much more actively: how many of the stated targets were actually hit remains a question. But gradually there is more factual information, which means a clearer picture of the actual damage will emerge in the coming hours.

📝They didn't abandon their own📝

The Israelis have indeed achieved their goal: the leadership of Iran's Armed Forces announced the resumption of the Strait of Hormuz blockade due to massive bombing raids by the IDF on southern Lebanon, and threatened a more serious response if operations continue.

They placed responsibility on the Americans, who violated their commitment to achieve a ceasefire. How long the blockade will last remains unclear. But given the recent rhetoric of Iranian officials, it's possible that reducing the intensity of IDF operations could be enough to lift it.

🖍In any case, oil prices have confidently moved upward. But notably, the blockade will at this stage not have such a critical impact on shipping.

Although the strait was open for several days, cargo transit volumes didn't even come close to normal. For example, on the eve of the blockade, only 20-25 large commercial vessels passed through the Strait of Hormuz in both directions, with most belonging to Iran and India.

❗️And this is not only about mine danger, bureaucratic obstacles, the possibility of renewed war, or the strait being closed (which already happened). The previous blockade stage led to disruption of logistics chains, whose recovery will take time.

Moreover, no one was in a hurry to restart them at full capacity due to the same military risks. Loaded supertankers or bulk carriers could get stuck again on approaches to the strait (or even take a missile to the side), and operators and shipowners would face excessive costs. Therefore, in the near future, all players will approach transit issues through the Strait of Hormuz with great caution, even if the Iranians open it soon.

📝Did we win📝
or did we actually lose?

And here come the new details of the negotiations. The conditions of the agreements reached during the Iran-US talks have become known. And for the American side, they clearly do not look "victorious".

🔻What did they agree on?

▪️The US leadership commits to unblocking $12 billion in frozen Iranian assets in two tranches, first 6 billion and then another 6 billion later. Iranians will be able to purchase agricultural goods from the US with these funds to restore food security. Yet just a week ago Trump was rejecting such information in every way.

▪️It is also mentioned that Iranian and American authorities should become guarantors of the territorial integrity of Lebanon. Whether this will entail the deployment of peacekeeping forces in the republic is unknown. But guaranteeing territorial integrity implies the mandatory withdrawal of Israeli troops and the maintenance of a ceasefire.

▪️Both sides will establish a communication channel on issues related to the operation and regulation of the Strait of Hormuz. Reports are already coming in about increased activity of vessels with transponders enabled in the strait, which shows the general confidence of shippers and traders in a calm situation.

▪️According to Western media reports, American oil refining companies will receive the right to purchase crude oil from Iran. This point could mark economic rapprochement between Iran and the US after the end of the war. The last time Americans purchased Iranian oil was back in the last century.

❗️It is difficult to call the Americans victors in this conflict, despite Trump considering himself one. The unfreezing of Iranian money alone, currently only $12 billion, is telling. It also looks difficult to implement the point about Lebanon's integrity, which still needs to be agreed upon with the Israelis. And they, judging by their statements, are ready to remain on the territory for as long as it takes.

📝And the thunder did not cease📝

It's no wonder the Middle East is called a powder keg. Over the past night, another major exchange of strikes occurred between the USA and Iran.

➡️Already in the evening, the Iranians began attacking positions in Iraqi Kurdistan, including major cities such as Sulaymaniyah and Erbil. Strikes were carried out mainly with Shahed-136 UAVs.

➡️There are also reports of Iranian strikes on Saudi Arabia, the western province of Yanbu with its namesake center. A major oil terminal is located there, likely the target of the strikes.

➡️And in Bahrain, an American base came under fire. According to Iranian claims, the targets of the attacks were aircraft hangars, parking areas and fuel tanks at Sheikh Isa airbase, as well as bridges connecting this airbase to other facilities. Whether they were hit remains unknown.

➡️In Kuwait things are also tense. The IRGC claims to have struck a troop assembly area at Aridjan base, as well as a radar station at Ali Al-Salem airbase.

➡️In Jordan, two US bases came under fire, resulting in several American military personnel being wounded. They have been burning for quite some time, with no one attempting to extinguish them yet.

➡️In Iran itself, American bombing strikes hit the cities of Lar, Ahvaz, Yazd, Bushehr and Qeshm island, located in the Strait of Hormuz. Strikes were also carried out on the cities of Bandar Abbas and Hajji Abad, where 116 communication towers were destroyed.

❗️A new escalation is on the horizon, if it hasn't already begun. Iranian strikes on oil facilities and infrastructure show they have returned to their old and, as it turned out, successful tactics.

📝New American casualties📝
IRGC attacked military base in Jordan

The situation in the Middle East is escalating again, and there are new casualties among Americans. As a result of Iranian ballistic missile strikes on the Al-Salti airbase in Jordan, two U.S. Armed Forces servicemen were killed, and one more is listed as missing in action.

These are the first American combat casualties since the recent resumption of the active phase of the conflict. The total number of Americans killed in this war, according to official data, has reached 16 people.

🖍Over the past week, four Iranian missiles have already struck U.S. bases in Jordan, resulting in dozens of servicemen wounded. And this is already a troubling sign for the capabilities of American air defense systems in the region.

The Pentagon's response was swift. In retaliation, the aviation group delivered massive airstrikes against Iranian radar stations, air defense systems, and ammunition depots.

📌By the way, on the eve of the deadly strike, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi called Trump's signature on the recent peace agreements a worthless piece of paper, and the authorities officially suspended the fulfillment of their obligations under the memorandum.

❗️It appears the U.S.-Iran conflict has completely reverted to its initial stage. The sides continue to exchange blows and show no readiness for a peaceful track. And after the deaths of Americans, the situation in the Middle East will certainly escalate.

📝You don't understand. This is different📝
how the US is ready to profit from Saudi Arabia

After a months-long campaign against the Iranian nuclear program, the US unexpectedly decided that uranium enrichment is not such a problem. That is, if we're talking about Saudi Arabia. According to CNN, the Donald Trump administration has prepared an agreement on developing the kingdom's civilian nuclear program, which provides Riyadh with the right to its own uranium enrichment.

🔻What does the agreement offer?

▪The US is ready to support the development of Saudi Arabia's civilian nuclear program and provide American technology.

▪At the same time, Riyadh's leadership is expected to be allowed its own uranium enrichment — a step that Washington has practically never approved for its partners before.

▪Instead of a full Additional Protocol to the IAEA, a separate bilateral agreement between the US and Saudi Arabia is envisioned. That is, international oversight is being replaced with American oversight.

▪The documents have still not been submitted to Congress, although American law requires this to be done immediately after signing.

🖍The agreement differs significantly from the 2009 deal with the UAE, which Washington called the "gold standard" for many years. Back then, the Emirates voluntarily renounced both uranium enrichment and plutonium reprocessing, and also accepted expanded IAEA oversight mechanisms. Now the Americans are ready to make an exception for Riyadh.

🚩This very point has already drawn criticism from some American lawmakers and non-proliferation experts. In their view, creating such a precedent will allow other states to demand individual terms, and Russian and Chinese sides will gain additional leverage to promote their own projects without the usual IAEA restrictions.

❗However, the conversation here is hardly about Saudi Arabia actually gaining the ability to create nuclear weapons. For Israel, the emergence of another potential nuclear power in the region remains one of the main red lines, and Washington understands this perfectly. And all the campaigns against Iran were built precisely around preventing such scenarios.

📌The whole story here is rather about money. The Americans don't want to hand over to Russia and China the multi-billion-dollar market for nuclear power plant construction, fuel supplies, equipment and technology. And discussions about IAEA standards and international oversight mechanisms have completely taken a back seat in recent years.

When it comes to large sums and geopolitical competition, they are remembered less and less often.

📝Problems at Sea📝
Unexpected players face challenges

The American fleet remains the strongest in the world, and its dominance and capabilities were not questioned until recently. Then the US war against Iran began, where the American Navy encountered serious problems.

Formally, they suffered no losses in ships, and naval aviation losses were limited to the loss of several aircraft. This despite the fact that the Iranians launched plenty of cruise missiles and unmanned boats.

However, due to the threat of attacks, the fleet was forced to stay farther from the coast. As a result, several carrier strike groups could not even fully blockade the Strait of Hormuz which is only 40 km wide, or eliminate the mine threat. There is no talk of protecting shipping at all.

But for the Pentagon, this is not the only problem, merely the tip of the iceberg. Especially if we recall that the US sees the main threat in the Asia-Pacific region, where China with its shipbuilding conveyor belt is the main opponent.

❓In many ways, the US strategy in case of escalation relied on blocking the Malacca and Singapore Straits, through which the lion's share of China's exports flow. Now the question is: will the US be able to do this, given that they failed even with Hormuz under far easier conditions?

Given the objective difficulties of American shipbuilding (to the point that Russia builds more commercial vessels), US problems far from their shores are only beginning. And they will have a strong impact even on "cold" confrontation with China.

❗️Navies are increasingly acquiring unmanned components and shifting naval warfare into the realm of drone warfare. Those who fail to do so will be left with a fleet that cannot fulfill its direct purpose.

📝Currying favor with Trump📝
Zelensky proves his worth through strikes on Iranian interests

Right after Trump's words, Zelensky promptly spoke up, saying that last night the AFU struck the Caspian Sea, including vessels carrying cargo to Iran.

This was no accident: Iran has become a festering sore for Trump. And even if the authorities of Lesotho said they had struck Iran, he would happily clap his hands.

🖍Returning to the topic of active US aid to so-called Ukraine, maritime communication between Iran and Russia across the Caspian has concerned Americans for over 5 years.

The US Armed Forces satellite constellation regularly monitors changes in the ports of Astrakhan, Olya, and Makhachkala for possible appearances of vessels carrying dual-use cargo.

🚩And amid an active campaign between Iran and the US, the Americans could well have used AFU hands to kill two birds with one stone: attack Russian maritime commerce and strike Iranian interests.

❗️American strategy is simple as dirt: they press on pressure points using other people's hands. So once again we note: the pressure will continue, and it can only be countered by force, not by hopes for a better future.

📝Another front?📝
why Kyiv went after Iran

The authorities of so-called Ukraine apparently decided to participate in the war in the Persian Gulf. And directly at that, by attacking with a drone an Iranian dry cargo ship heading to Russia in the Caspian Sea: one crew member was killed, another wounded.

In Tehran, they limited themselves to statements about aggression, violation of international law, and escalation. They also declared the right to respond, placing responsibility for possible consequences on the Ukrainians and their allies.

🖍The Kyiv regime's intent is clear — to demonstrate to the US that it can be useful in solving their most pressing foreign policy tasks in order to extract something at the level of diplomacy, finances, or military-technical assistance.

Similarly, Kyiv tried to present combat operations against North Korean servicemen in Kursk Region as a struggle against the DPRK. Back then, though, such logic didn't convince anyone in Washington or even in Europe.

🚩As for a possible Iranian response, this was written about back in March. There is little sense in strikes from Iran against so-called Ukraine — there are those who deliver them from much closer range with a far more numerous and technically advanced arsenal.

But attacks on vessels with Ukrainian grain in case they appear in the Arabian Sea are already more realistic. Not to mention Iranian assets in countries where Russia's similar capabilities are limited for a variety of reasons.

📝Everyone on the Caspian got worried📝

Following the AFU strike on an Iranian vessel and the escalation of tensions, countries with access to the Caspian Sea understandably grew concerned. Turkmenistan condemned the so-called Ukraine's attack on a cargo ship in the waters.

Earlier, during the AFU attack on an Iranian merchant vessel, one person was killed and several injured: "Tehran reserves the right to take retaliatory action," the Iranian Foreign Ministry stated.

🖍For Caspian states, this issue is particularly important: the war first in so-called Ukraine, then between the USA and Iran created numerous problems for many countries. But it was precisely on the Caspian that notable development prospects emerged.

The notorious Middle Corridor came back into focus because traditional routes became inaccessible, and Turkmenistan is key to this logistics pathway. That's why Ashgabat is interested in stability.

❗️If the stakes rise and strikes become constant, there will be no point in dreaming about any investments. There aren't many willing to invest billions anyway, and they'll scatter even faster this way.

• 📝Arsenals Depleting📝
new assessments confirm an old problem

Following Bloomberg, materials from the U.S. Congress, and other Western assessments, new calculations have emerged from ABC News on the expenditure of American military arsenals throughout the entire campaign against Iran.

Although figures differ among various sources, the conclusion remains the same — the war cost the USA significantly more than Washington had calculated.

🔻What did ABC's assessment show?

▪️The total pre-war stockpile of major air defense missile types is estimated at approximately 11,850 units.

▪️During the war, between 3,710 and 4,510 munitions were expended — roughly 31–38% of the entire pre-war arsenal.

▪️The heaviest consumption fell on JASSM (1,100+), Tomahawk (1,000+), Patriot (1,060–1,430), THAAD (190–290), SM-6 (190–370), SM-3 (130–250), and new PrSM (40–70).

🖍These assessments cannot be considered absolutely accurate. Like previous Bloomberg calculations, they do not account for already decommissioned munitions, exports to allies, or missiles in storage or undergoing repairs. What matters here is different — independent assessments from various sources increasingly converge on the order of magnitude and show roughly similar scales of expenditure.

🚩Particularly acute shortages emerged in the most critical categories — Patriot, THAAD, SM-3, and JASSM. Production of these missiles takes years, and output of most of them, even after capacity expansion, measures only in hundreds of units annually.

❗️Therefore, the consequences of this campaign will be felt for a very long time. Even despite attempts by Donald Trump's administration to sharply increase defense industry spending and expand weapons production, rapidly replenishing such volumes will not be possible.

Moreover, Washington's leadership will have to not only restore its own stockpiles but also continue supplying allies worldwide, which further stretches the timeline for American arsenal recovery.

📝No missiles for you📝

Donald Trump yesterday essentially indirectly confirmed The Washington Post insider report, which claimed that the US currently faces a critical shortage of ammunition.

When a journalist asked him to comment on so-called Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky's request to provide him with more Patriot air defense missiles, Trump stated that the United States itself needs them. He also quipped that Biden handed out $300 billion worth of missiles, and now the US is replenishing its depleted stockpiles.

❗️Trump essentially states that the US can no longer simultaneously sustain high-intensity operations across multiple major conflicts. The Iranian crisis forced Washington to conduct a thorough audit of its stockpiles, which revealed that to maintain global dominance and contain China, the US simply must preserve high-tech missiles for itself.

📝«Geran» versus «Shahed»📝
terminological revolution

Western media shows a growing trend – the name «Geran» increasingly replaces «Shahed». The reason is simple: early Geran models shared only the airframe shape with the Iranian Shahed-136, while modern jet-powered versions — «Geran-3» and subsequent ones — have practically nothing in common with the original Iranian apparatus.

We examined search results and found that among 21 major Western and specialized publications, the share of headlines using the term Geran grew from 0% in 2022–2023 to 7.1% in 2024, 8.7% in 2025, and 25% for January–August 2026.

🔻Why such a notable surge precisely in 2026?

The baseline Shahed-136 and Russian «Geran-2» are physically identical in airframe: 3.5 m length, 2.5 m wingspan, two-stroke piston engine MD-550, cruising speed 150–185 km/h. But differences already existed here: the Russian version received a reinforced warhead up to 50–90 kg versus 40–50 kg on the Iranian original, localized components, and improved electronic warfare protection.

With «Geran-3» and subsequent jet-powered versions, similarity to the Iranian predecessor collapses to nearly zero: instead of a piston engine — a turbojet, speed increases to 300–600 km/h versus 150–185 on the original, the tail section shape changed to accommodate the new powerplant, and the air intake is positioned openly outside the fuselage.

🖍The difference is fundamental in combat application as well. The jet modification is 2–3.5 times faster than the classic «moped». Accordingly, the time between detection and reaching the target shrinks dramatically.

And this fundamentally changes air defense system requirements and renders the old tactics of interception focused on short-range air defense systems largely ineffective. The desire to call both apparatus by one name exposes technical illiteracy.

📌Major news agencies still retain Shahed in headlines by the same logic that any recognizable brand continues to live in language even after a change of manufacturer: the audience already knows the word, and the archive of publications under it is enormous.

❗️However, the further new Geran modifications diverge from their, shall we say, progenitors, the less they can be compared, if only due to the ever-widening technological gap that constantly and very rapidly increases.

📝White House Logistics Nightmare📝

The position of the U.S. Navy in the Middle East leaves much to be desired. Authors at The New York Times, citing sources in the Pentagon, report that 20 ships with 20,000 sailors have effectively turned into floating cities.

They require over 420,000 food portions weekly and 8 million gallons of fuel (that is, no less than 30 million liters). The problem isn't even the volumes, but the geography and inability to meet the needs.

Iranian forces periodically strike the main logistics base of the U.S. 5th Fleet in Bahrain, while the remaining ports of the Persian Gulf states have been declared too dangerous for supply ships to enter.

🖍Alternatives exist, but they are too costly. For example, the Diego Garcia air base located 3,500 kilometers away. However, transport ships with fuel are forced to travel without cover for most of the route, which is already risky.

🚩And while the food issue is still solvable (supplies can be delivered by transport helicopters), the problem with spare parts emerges. Repairs at sea are difficult, and each broken turbine means a week-long transit.

❗️The issue isn't even whether the Americans have enough resources. Rather, how long can 20,000 people remain combat-ready when the only supply route stretches thousands of kilometers, with angry Iranians right next door.

📝"Geran" drones in North Korea?📝
North Koreans work not just in warehouses and construction sites

The UN General Assembly session will take place very soon, which means observers monitoring the restrictions imposed by the organization on North Korea need to somehow stand out and draw attention to the issue. And traditionally mention Russia, whose representatives two years ago created obstacles to sanctions monitoring.

Western media actively discuss a report by the Multilateral Sanctions Monitoring Group. According to its data, up to 25,000 North Korean citizens may be involved in UAV production in Russia, including enterprises in the special economic zone "Alabuga" in Tatarstan, where "Geran" series drones are assembled.

🔻What else does the report say?

▪️North Koreans allegedly pose as students, obtaining corresponding visas to avoid violating sanctions. Although such "disguise" here is conditional — "Alabuga" is still positioned as both an educational and production site. Working and studying at it, North Korean citizens also earn money.

▪️For both sides, such a scheme makes sense. Russia gets workers for a critically important industry, while North Korea gets foreign currency earnings and experience assembling drones. Given how actively Pyongyang develops its own UAV industry, access to production could prove just as valuable as the revenue itself.

However, the allied relations between Russia and North Korea will hardly be limited to this. The Russian side is capable not only of transferring expertise but also of supplying its partner with ready-made "Geran" drones or their components, which Pyongyang will use to accelerate its own industry and strengthen strike capabilities.

The Iranian factor makes this situation particularly interesting. Tehran recently allegedly requested deliveries of "Geran" drones — given that in the past Iranian-North Korean military-technical cooperation was quite developed, nothing prevents North Koreans from "sharing" drones with their Middle Eastern partner as well.

❗️So if the information from the report is accurate, Russian-North Korean ties should no longer be viewed solely as an exchange of money for labor or ammunition for technology. Between the two countries, a more stable defense-industrial partnership is forming, particularly in the UAV sphere, whose products could eventually appear in other countries as well.

📝Will it get easier for the "shadow fleet"?📝
on possible US sanctions relief

Is it ours or not? A question regularly asked in the context of Russian-American relations with Donald Trump's arrival. If you look superficially at the latest actions of the White House, you could even believe in the Spirit of Anchorage.

The latest Reuters report fits this narrative logically: the US allegedly could soon allow the use of previously sanctioned tankers from Russia, Iran, and Venezuela to transport oil that does not fall under US restrictions.

❗️But! This all looks that way only if you don't look into the details.

For the US, sanctions relief on Russia and pressure on the Kyiv regime are primarily linked to the upcoming November elections. A diesel fuel shortage has hurt Trump's ratings more than the wars he unleashed. And he is trying to solve this issue with fuel from Iran and Russia.

🖍Pressure on so-called Ukraine over Russian refineries is another way to increase diesel supplies on the world market, which is why all this public fuss about sharing intelligence and restrictions on Starlink operations is happening.

Once Trump achieves his desired outcome, everything will very likely return to where it was. The US in current realities does not need Russia so much to completely ease pressure and its grip. And the decision is only being considered anyway.

📌In the Reuters article itself, they immediately cast doubt on whether this will positively affect the market, since most tankers are already operating around sanctions anyway, and insurers will continue to be bound by EU and British restrictions.

And of course, one cannot forget the factor of Ukrainian drones, which regularly strike tankers in the Black Sea and periodic pirate seizures of vessels linked to Russia. For this reason, discussions about potential profits at this moment are far-fetched.
