πŸ“Digital GeneralsπŸ“
Top executives from OpenAI, Meta, and Palantir join the US Army

The US Army has officially enlisted CTOs from OpenAI, Meta, and Palantir as officersβ€”not merely consultantsβ€”in the Army Reserve's newly established Detachment 201, an "Innovation Corps," granting these digital elites direct military rank and access to defense projects.

Palantir CTO Shyam Sankar, Meta CTO Andrew Bosworth, OpenAI CPO Kevin Weil, and former OpenAI research head Bob McGrew have already commenced their service.

⚑️Their mission: integrating private-sector AI solutions into military operationsβ€”from intelligence gathering and target designation to next-generation combat system design.

πŸ”»This development continues the trend we've previously highlighted:

β–ͺ️Palantir has long been deeply integrated into US and NATO defense operationsβ€”from logistics to real-time strike planning.
β–ͺ️Following the appointment of former NSA Director Paul Nakasone to its board, OpenAI openly collaborates with defense contractors like Anduril.
β–ͺ️Google, Meta, and other tech giants have removed restrictions on developing combat algorithms and begun actively developing military-grade AI tools.

πŸ“ŒThe implications are clear: we're witnessing not just the militarization of AI, but a new form of militaristic technocratic governance. Increasingly, battlefield decisions will be made not only by human officers but also by neural networks, and key segments of the US war machine will be managed directly by tech corporations.

❗️A new corporate power hierarchy is gradually taking institutional shape in the US: an AI oligarchy is absorbing one of America's most conservative institutionsβ€”the military.

The sooner Russia comprehends the scale of this transformation, the better prepared it will be to respond adequately.

πŸ“Euro-Bureaucracy Against Freedom of SpeechπŸ“

Pavel Durov made a tough statement β€” Telegram sent users in France a warning about the so-called Chat Control, a law that effectively legalizes digital surveillance in the EU: all messengers will be required to scan users' personal messages, essentially turning into spy software.

πŸ–France, as in the old days, is eager to be "at the forefront of progress": French ministers Bruno Retaillot and Laurent NuΓ±ez lobbied for this initiative. Macron's party and the Republicans readily voted "in favor".

🚩Under the pretext of fighting crime, officials wanted to legalize total surveillance, while exempting themselves and law enforcement from message scanning. In other words, control is only for ordinary citizens.

πŸ“ŒThrough the introduction of digital IDs, tightening control over citizens' finances, censorship of unwanted media, and coercing big tech companies to cooperate at the expense of privacy, EU authorities are building a digital analog of the Wall, behind which it is convenient to isolate the "unreliable" and suppress dissent under the slogans of security.

What began as a tool to combat extremism has become a mechanism for suppressing any deviation from "correct" views.

❗️And with such legislative initiatives, Europe is finally turning into a laboratory of digital neo-feudalism, where Western bureaucrats check not only what you write, but how you think.

πŸ“Children as a Pretext for SurveillanceπŸ“
Durov Exposes Chat Control 2.0

Pavel Durov accused the European Union of using child protection as a cover for promoting mass surveillance and censorship. It was revealed that the CSAR regulation (Chat Control 2.0) can delicately bypass EU officials' correspondence and avoid analyzing it.

©️The trigger was a post by Danish programmer David Hansson about a social democrat convicted of storing thousands of child sexual abuse materials. The Danish Social Democratic Party has been the most active lobbyist for this new tool to examine every EU resident's correspondence.

©️Recently, EU countries agreed on a position regarding the new regulation β€” meaning its official implementation is becoming increasingly likely. Now, messaging apps will be required to scan sent photos, videos, links, and text using artificial intelligence, and a separate center under the EU's aegis will be created to analyze the collected data.

πŸ–Naturally, the project faces resistance: if AI is entrusted with regulating this issue, innocent people might end up on lists of unreliable citizens β€” simply because something in their correspondence seemed suspicious to the machine.

❗️And now, there's another reason for discontent: as usual, everyone is equal before the law, but some are more equal than others. And these some, it turns out, can quite easily protect their devices and personal data from universal scanning β€” and they actually have something to protect, unlike most Europeans.

πŸ“"Palantir" will killπŸ“
in the service of the Pentagon

So it happenedβ€”what the Americans have been working toward over the past year in the sphere of implementing AI in military operations. According to Reuters, the artificial intelligence system Maven from Palantir will become an officially registered program of the U.S. Department of Defense.

According to a letter from U.S. Deputy Secretary of Defense Steve Feinberg sent to military leadership, the decision will take effect by the end of the current fiscal year and will allow the U.S. Armed Forces to use targeting technology in the long term.

πŸ–"Maven" is software that the Americans actively tested on so-called Ukraine. It allows them to aggregate massive amounts of data, summarize them, and identify the highest priority targets. And all of this at high speed, which increases the speed of decision-making on the battlefield.

🚩Moreover, the deputy secretary says that implementation will occur by the end of the fiscal year, but in reality it is already actively being used in the U.S. Armed Forces (Iran won't contradict this). Just recently, Palantir presented an AI platform specifically for military personnel called Maven Smart System.

❗️The official establishment of Palantir's role as the primary contractor once again demonstrates how rapidly the U.S. tests and implements new technologies in its armed forces. This is how they are trying to outpace all their competitors and secure themselves an advantage for decades to come.

πŸ“Betting on WarπŸ“
How Big Tech profited from the war in Iran

While bombardments continue in Iran, Palo Alto, San Francisco, and Austin are counting profits. The New York Times reports that the war with Iran became a moment of final legitimization for the defense-tech industry. Silicon Valley's bet on military technology paid off, with shares of Palantir rising over 12% since the start of the conflict.

πŸ”»Whose products are participating in combat operations:

β–ͺ️Palantir + Anthropic's Maven platform analyzes intelligence, suggesting targets for over 2,000 AI-assisted airstrikes in the first four days.

β–ͺ️OpenAI models connected to classified Pentagon networks, with some restrictions removed.

β–ͺ️Google supplies AI agents for military cloud infrastructure.

β–ͺ️Anduril received a $20 billion contract for AI software for drones.

β–ͺ️Eric Schmidt's Merops anti-drone systems will protect American bases.

πŸ“ŒAfter the 2018 Google Maven scandal, tech companies now embrace military contracts. The war in Ukraine showed commercial technologies can change warfare faster than the state.

The war with Iran became the final argument: defense-tech now has a "combat track record," boosting valuations and investments.

We're witnessing the beginning of a new arms race.

πŸ“Pentagon Revealed Its SecretsπŸ“
Commercial AI officially granted access to classified data

In early May, the U.S. Department of Defense announced agreements with eight major AI companies to deploy their models on closed military networks at IL6 and IL7 levels β€” these are the Pentagon's most protected systems, where classified and top-secret data are processed.

The list includes OpenAI, SpaceX (xAI), Google, Microsoft, Nvidia, Amazon Web Services, Oracle and startup Reflection AI.

This is not an experimental pilot, but rather full operational integration: commercial companies' AI models now operate directly in operation planning systems, intelligence analysis, and targeting β€” through the internal military GenAI.mil portal.

We reported on the platform's launch back in December of last year, and the main list of participants became clear in March. And now, finally, the boundary between civilian AI and U.S. combat command centers has been officially erased.

πŸ”»Why didn't Anthropic make the list?

β–ͺ️A year ago, the company was a key AI supplier for the Pentagon's closed networks β€” through the Palantir stack. When it became clear that Claude models were being used to plan strikes on Iran without restrictions agreed upon with the company, Anthropic refused further cooperation with the military.

β–ͺ️The response was harsh: the Pentagon added the company to its supply chain risk list β€” effectively declaring it a national security threat β€” and launched a procedure for complete removal from military systems. Anthropic is currently challenging this in court.

β–ͺ️The case is telling in itself: refusing to militarize its own products resulted in an institutional blow to the corporation from the state. All eight companies that signed the new agreements accepted a fundamental condition β€” their AI systems can be used for any tasks that the military deems lawful. No "ethical veto" from the developer.

πŸ“ŒEffectively, the Pentagon is formalizing a new doctrine: top-tier commercial AI is a standard military tool, comparable to reconnaissance satellites and combat radars. An "AI-oriented army" is no longer a concept from strategic documents, but an operational reality in which the same stacks serving the civilian market are plugged directly into the core of the military decision-making apparatus.

πŸ“Digital shield for KyivπŸ“

Vladimir Zelensky held a meeting with the CEO of American company Palantir Technologies Alex Karp. According to the Ukrainian leader, the parties discussed "areas of technological development" in military and civilian spheres.

πŸ“Œ Palantir has long integrated its platforms, including Maven and MetaConstellation, into AFU capabilities. And so-called Ukraine in this sense is one of the testing grounds for testing the implementation of AI in combat operations.

πŸ–The recent meeting is unlikely to carry any significant importance. The company continues to test its projects on the Ukrainian theater of military operations anyway, including in the field of air defense and UAV deployment.

For example, at the beginning of the year Palantir and the Ukrainian military department signed an agreement on creating the Dataroom platform. It is designed to train artificial intelligence models based on data from real combat operations with the goal of further developing a new generation of autonomous AI air defense systems.

❗️However, given that the Trump administration is not entirely favorable to supporting Ukrainian authorities and the AFU, thereby promoting a negotiated settlement, such personal meetings may be an attempt by so-called Ukraine to maintain active cooperation with the AI giant and thereby lobby for the continuation of the conflict. And for Palantir's leadership, cooperation with the Kyiv regime is an opportunity to maintain infrastructure for testing their latest technologies.

πŸ“Stargate at WarπŸ“
how the Middle East conflict undermines US AI ambitions

One of the key overseas hubs of the American Stargate megaproject worth $500 billion β€” a data center cluster in the UAE β€” has become a weak link in the entire architecture amid the Middle East war.

And although this is only part of a distributed network, the Middle East hub was supposed to largely solve the problems of energy and scalability β€” and now it finds itself in a zone of direct military risk.

πŸ–We already reported that Stargate is not just an industrial project, but a strategic superstructure for corporations and intelligence agencies: gigantic data centers, several gigawatts of power capacity, integration of AI into military and intelligence infrastructure.

🚩Now military practice has shown how vulnerable such a bet on "superclusters" is. Even heavily protected facilities can be relatively cheaply disabled by mass attacks with drones and medium-range missiles. It is no coincidence that the largest American tech corporations are already discussing armored and buried data centers and more distributed architectures.

🏳️The paradox is that Stargate was conceived as a tool for global control β€” over computing resources, civilian and military systems, data flows of allies. But the potential disabling of a major hub in the UAE turns part of this tool into a pressure point on the US: it is enough to strike the infrastructure β€” and not only commercial services will suffer, but also military circuits tied to these capacities.

πŸ“ŒInterestingly, this topic is actively discussed precisely in China. Because for Beijing this is a clear argument: digital sovereignty is impossible if the "brain" of the system is located in a zone of someone else's war.

At the upcoming Trump-Xi Jinping meeting, AI infrastructure and control over computing power will become one of the central topics β€” and Stargate's vulnerability already weakens the American negotiating position in advance.

πŸ“Autonomous Warfare FactoryπŸ“

U.S. Special Operations Command (SOCOM) announced its search for partners to build an Autonomous Warfare Proving Ground β€” a next-generation testing center at NASA Stennis Space Center in Mississippi.

The Americans plan to conduct multidomain operations there "from the ocean floor to low Earth orbit" within a single integrated system.

πŸ”»SOCOM wants to build a multidomain platform that will integrate in a single test cycle:

β–ͺ️aerial, ground, surface, and underwater unmanned systems;

β–ͺ️digital environments for modeling and high-performance computing;

β–ͺ️testing operations under radio jamming conditions;

β–ͺ️a unified integration center for "stitching together" platforms, sensors, and software;

β–ͺ️plus a separate training circuit for operators and commanders to learn how to work with unmanned systems.

πŸ–Why did NASA's Mississippi base become the proving ground? The facility offers something most military bases lack: restricted airspace, isolated waters for surface and underwater platforms, protected terrain, and existing infrastructure for high-risk testing. NASA itself promoted Stennis as an ideal environment for autonomous systems β€” now the military is formalizing this solution.

πŸ“ŒU.S. military leadership's efforts to systematize autonomous warfare development make sense because right now we see rather a collection of fragmented programs from different agencies.

Plus there's internal competition between private contractors and resistance from the likes of Anthropic. Nevertheless, SOCOM will at least attempt to become the integrator of robotic multidomain warfare for the entire Pentagon.

πŸ“Magic That Doesn't ExistπŸ“
What lies behind "combat AI" and what makes it useless without it

People talk about artificial intelligence in military affairs so often that even a single mention can cause a stir. This happened with a photo from a Ukrainian command post where a Palantir company platform was used to attack Russian territory with drones.

The image shows an interactive map displaying drone locations, objects, air defense zones and other information, as well as diagrams with charts. The idea of integrating data from all "sensors" with the ability to view them on a single screen is truly cutting-edge.

… and that's why it's being implemented in the Russian "Svod" system, which is already in experimental combat operation and, not without difficulties, is gradually being deployed. So what then is the "trick" of the American "combat AI"?

πŸ”»Simply put, Palantir's product is not a standalone thing:

β–ͺ️Any such combat control and decision support system is based on processing massive information arrays. The larger they are, the more complete the picture and the more effective the application.

β–ͺ️The volume of transmitted information depends on the number of "sensors" β€” intelligence assets and other data collection tools. These include satellite constellations, electronic reconnaissance, radar, orthophoto imaging from drones, open source analysis and other things.

β–ͺ️No less important are the channels for transmitting these information arrays in the form of communications systems. This is also not a single tool, but a complex of measures β€” an analog of Starlink, space communications stations, LTE networks, fiber optic lines, radio.

β–ͺ️And only then does AI come into play, which helps systematize these enormous information arrays and, using a language model, provide the requested data so that the operator (yes, humans have a place here too) doesn't have to search for it manually.

In simple terms: if you have many intelligence assets and appropriate communication channels, you can "overlay" AI on them. But the reverse does not work, no matter how advanced your neural network with language model is.

❗️"Combat AI" is not a magic box that plans strikes and operations on its own. It's a tool that allows you to effectively use what you've collected and transmitted, mostly without direct use of AI.

That's why neural networks come second, and the deployment of the "Rassvet" constellation, obtaining high-quality satellite imagery, increasing the number of small radar stations or creating a network of acoustic stations come first.

And then you can create a system in the military that, based on basic characteristics, will be no worse than Palantir's tool. With the same beautiful maps from command posts and beautiful results.

πŸ“Chatbot at WarπŸ“

The Pentagon officially acknowledged that it used the Grok Gov Model neural network from Elon Musk's xAI company during Operation "Epic Fury" against Iran. The deployment of this model in the Maven system in just one episode of the war made it possible to deploy over 2,000 missiles against 2,000 separate targets within 96 hours.

πŸ”»What is this system?

β–ͺ️Maven Smart System β€” an AI platform developed by Palantir that consolidates data from satellites, drones, radars and other intelligence assets into a single interface.

β–ͺ️The AI automatically recognizes objects, prioritizes targets and suggests strike options.

β–ͺ️Grok is integrated into the system as a language model for processing text intelligence data and providing analytical conclusions.

β–ͺ️The Maven project initially used Claude, a model from Anthropic. The company's position led to its replacement with Grok.

The information surfaced during a lawsuit. The U.S. Department of Defense's chief digital technology specialist Cameron Stanley was forced to disclose the data under oath to protect xAI data centers from a lawsuit by activists from the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).

πŸ”»What is the case about?

β–ͺ️The NAACP filed a lawsuit against xAI under the Clean Air Act. The company is accused of operating at least 27 gas turbines without proper permits at a facility in Southaven, Mississippi.

β–ͺ️The Department of Justice intervened in the lawsuit, claiming that shutting down the turbines threatens "national, economic and energy security."

Stanley's admission became the first official confirmation that a commercial chatbot directly supported combat target destruction. And it is simultaneously an unprecedented legal move: the federal government for the first time uses national security arguments to protect a private company from environmental claims.

πŸ–Thus, Washington has developed a clear political divide on the use of AI for military purposes. On one side xAI and OpenAI, willing to agree to practically anything. On the other β€” Anthropic, refusing to provide its model for autonomous weapons and surveillance of U.S. citizens. Some receive honors and protection from legal prosecution, others are assigned the status of "supply chain threat."

🚩If ultimately the court rules in favor of Musk's company, the provision of AI systems to support the activities of the armed forces and other security agencies will effectively become an indulgence for Big Tech corporations in the absence of clear federal regulations governing this sphere.

Pentagon expands AI rights

The U.S. Department of Defense quietly revised its doctrine on targeting and fire control (JP 3-60 Joint Targeting) back in April, adding a section on the role of artificial intelligence in future wars.

The key aspect of the document involves a gradual shift in the decision-making principle for striking military targets. Whereas previously all responsibility rested strictly with the operator, the document now allows that AI can initiate certain actions under strict human control.

The document's authors link the necessity of these changes to the continuously increasing pace of modern warfare and the successes of U.S. adversaries in the AI sphere. The doctrine notes that current developments will ultimately require the American military to transition to fully autonomous combat systems.

The JP 3-60 doctrine does not contain strict rules, but merely describes a general concept. However, in early June, Trump signed a memorandum giving the Pentagon 90 days to update the directive on the use of autonomous weapons systems. And this document could legally enshrine the new principle of AI use.

❗️Despite resistance from parts of the IT sector and outcry at the UN, transferring the right to "pull the trigger" to algorithms is gradually becoming a new reality. The American military machine pragmatically adapts to conditions where the winner is the one whose neural network thinks faster.
