πŸ‡·πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦πŸ’‘ After almost a month of pause, the Russian forces have delivered a combined missile strike on the enemy's energy and critical infrastructure facilities, using both Geran-2 kamikaze drones and various types of cruise missiles.

Explosions were heard in the city of Stryi: local channels posted footage of impacts, allegedly on one of the facilities in the city. Other facilities in Lviv Region were also hit: local authorities report at least six impacts on three critical infrastructure objects.

As a result of the strikes, one of the thermal power plants in Ivano-Frankivsk Region and Dnipro HPP in Dnipropetrovsk were damaged: the authorities have blocked the road to the latter. Emergency repair work is currently underway at the facilities, no reports of emergency power outages.

In addition, explosions were heard at critical infrastructure facilities in Kirovohrad and Vinnytsia Regions, the targets and scale of destruction are being clarified. In Odesa, port infrastructure was hit, and in Balakliia - a temporary deployment point of the enemy.

πŸ‡·πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦ What is known about the combined strike by the Russian Armed Forces on the territory of the so-called Ukraine as of 4 PM

This night, the Russian troops delivered one of the largest strikes on the territory of the so-called Ukraine since the start of the SMO.

πŸ”»According to Ukrainian authorities, 120 missiles, including cruise and ballistic missiles such as "Tsirkon", "Iskander" and "Kinzhal", as well as 90 UAVs were launched during the attack. The opponent, as usual, claimed that most of the missiles and drones were shot down.

β–ͺ️Based on reports online, the main targets of the Russian troops were energy facilities and enterprises involved in military production. Strikes were carried out on major cities, including Kyiv, Odesa, Dnipro, Kremenchuk and Kryvyi Rih. In the latter, there are also problems with the operation of boiler houses, partial lack of heat and water supply in the city, and critical infrastructure is powered by generators.

β–ͺ️After the attacks, emergency power outages were introduced in various regions of the country, including Kyiv and Odesa. Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko confirmed that there were serious power supply disruptions. According to DTEK energy company data, several thermal power plants were also hit.

β–ͺ️In Mykolaiv, the strikes caused significant damage to infrastructure and power outages. One of the targets, according to preliminary information, was the Kulbakino airfield. Drones and ammunition depots are located on the base territory.

β–ͺ️The mayor of Odesa reported a complete halt of public transport and difficulties in the work of utility services. In Lviv, fires and damage to infrastructure facilities were recorded.

❗️In Rivne, according to preliminary information, the 330/110 kV Rivne substation was hit, the extent of damage to the facility is still unclear. At the same time, power outages were also observed in the city and region. There are problems with the operation of boiler houses, partial lack of heat and water supply in the city, and critical infrastructure is powered by generators.

β–ͺ️In addition, several railway sections were de-energized, and reserve diesel locomotives were sent to restore traffic.

πŸ“Œ Online, there are also footage of impacts in the area of the town of Yaremche in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, where a large railway station of the same name is located. In addition, near the town in the mountains is the 136th Missile and Ammunition Supply Center (military unit A-1807), which could also have been a target of the raid.

πŸ‡·πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦πŸ’‘ This morning, Russian forces carried out another massive strike on Ukrainian energy facilities using cruise missiles and kamikaze drones.

According to preliminary information, explosions were reported in Kharkiv, Dnipro and Kryvyi Rih, as well as Burshtyn in Ivano-Frankivsk Region and other settlements where thermal power plants are located.

Representatives of the Kyiv regime reported hits on some structures. This is indirectly evidenced by power outages and disruptions in several areas.

Lately, the Russian Armed Forces have been systematically delivering such strikes, although there are no large-scale permanent problems in the Ukrainian energy sector. So the effectiveness of this raid can be assessed after the release of objective control footage.

πŸ‡ΉπŸ‡·πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦πŸ’‘ It seems that the Turkish company Karpowership has decided not to send two floating power plants to the Odesa Region of Ukraine after more than two years of negotiations.

The reasons cited are the lack of security guarantees and potential instability of supply. Another issue was the high cost of renting the facilities at $250 million per year, which would have made the electricity the most expensive in the Ukrainian power system.

❗️Rybar's team had predicted this outcome back in November 2022 when the news of Karpowership's plans first emerged. They outlined the reasons why the project's implementation was doubtful, and it has now been confirmed in practice.

It's interesting that the Ukrainian authorities were counting on partners to compensate for the high cost of energy, but the sponsors were not generous enough for such "charity". This gives reason to believe that a significant corruption component was built into the scheme from the start.

As for the Ukrainian power system, it is doing relatively well - although the strikes by the Russian Armed Forces have caused significant damage and drastically complicated the potential restoration of industrial production to 2021 levels, there are no blackouts in the so-called Ukraine. But that's a different story.

πŸ“US Targets Ukrainian Nuclear Power PlantsπŸ“

According to reports, US Energy Secretary Chris Wright stated that the US has "tremendous technical expertise" to manage such facilities, and control over the power plants would allow them to protect them and contribute to the resolution of the conflict.

As before, such statements are far removed from reality. On the one hand, the Russian Armed Forces have not been striking Ukrainian nuclear power plants even without any American presence there.

The value of these facilities for the US is not obvious: almost all the reactors have exceeded their design lifetime, and operation in critical modes increases wear and complicates lifetime extension. And plans for building new power units seem like fantasy.

πŸ“ŒBut if this is not just information noise, then nothing prevents the Americans from freely taking over the Ukrainian nuclear power plants and in a couple of years handing them over to European bureaucrats for a tidy sum. Who, apparently, derive pleasure from gratuitous investments in the Ukrainian bottomless pit.

In this case, the Trump administration will be able to pompously report on the profitability of past military assistance to the Kyiv regime, getting money literally out of nothing and avoiding the hassle with dubious assets for them.

πŸ“Energy Collapse in EuropeπŸ“

During the day, a massive power outage occurred in major cities across Spain, where the metro, factories, communication networks, airports, and road infrastructure were left without electricity. As a result, the country experienced a transportation collapse.

Similar problems were observed in the neighboring countries of France, Portugal and Andorra. The exact cause was not specified, but local energy operators officially attributed the failure to some "rare atmospheric phenomenon."

πŸ“ŒThe reality, however, seems different: such a total blackout could have occurred due to improper operation of the emergency automation and initial design flaws in the system.

Possibly, there was a failure at a nuclear power plant, and then everything went in waves due to frequency fluctuations that the existing capacities were unable to stabilize. Including those built in Europe as part of the "green transition."

❗️This example clearly shows the difference in the approaches to power system design: the Ukrainian power grid, created during the Soviet era, despite all the losses, withstood dozens of massive strikes. In Spain, everything collapsed from a single failure without a single impact.

It is possible that if the energy facilities were subjected to a real attack, the region could have plunged into a pre-industrial era. Interestingly, do the affairs in other parts of Western Europe coincidentally not be in the same way?

Spain loses connectivity again

In April, a total blackout occurred on the Iberian Peninsula, when entire cities and transport infrastructure were left without electricity for a long time. Today, the situation has partly repeated itself.

This time, due to a morning power outage in Spain, communication was lost, as a result of which people in all major cities could not make calls, send messages, or use mobile internet.

πŸ–The second such incident in a month is a sign of critical design and construction flaws in the country's power system, where a single malfunction leads to a ripple effect of problems and large-scale outages.

🚩The funniest thing is that the causes of the incident will most likely remain unknown - the materials of the investigation into the April blackout in Spain were simply classified by Eurocrats, essentially acknowledging the huge scale of the problem.

❗️The question is, what happened that it became necessary to suddenly hide everything? Could it be that it's a matter of the consequences of pushing the "green agenda", which has destabilized European power systems and caused them colossal damage?

πŸ“Lost Their Gas?πŸ“

In addition to energy problems (not yet critical), the Kyiv regime has encountered difficulties with gas. According to The New Times, as a result of Russian Armed Forces strikes, Ukrainian Naftogaz lost 60% of its blue fuel production capacity.

Journalists note that this could significantly impact the heating capabilities of the so-called Ukraine. Switching to electric heaters is challenging due to power system damage from Russian attacks.

πŸ–Although the opponent often tends to deliberately exaggerate infrastructure damage, in this case the figures might be close to the truth. After all, Russian Armed Forces have been systematically striking gas production facilities in the Kharkiv and Poltava Regions throughout the year.

🚩However, no apocalyptic scenes are currently observed in areas controlled by the Kyiv regime. There are no total blackouts after recent strikes, and power outages will be fewer than in autumn 2022.

❗️So it's better to assess the effectiveness of raids and actual damage to Ukrainian critical infrastructure not by newspaper articles, but by clear indicators. And since no massive cities are without gas and electricity in the so-called Ukraine, there are still many targets to strike.

πŸ“No HeatπŸ“
About the Situation in Kyiv

The consequences of recent Russian Armed Forces strikes on energy infrastructure in Kyiv can be described as "clearly visible": the destruction of some and damage to other power plants have led to noticeable humanitarian consequences.

➑️The situation was worst in Troieshchyna in the Desnyansk District: after the destruction of CHP-6, there is practically no electricity and heat, with a risk of sewage freezing. The local administration is already announcing readiness to dig "street toilets".

➑️Around 1000 houses (approximately 10% of all multi-story buildings) remain completely without power. Zelenskyy blamed local authorities for insufficient emergency preparedness, effectively identifying the culprits in the current situation.

➑️According to footage from Russian Spring War Correspondents, the city has begun to set up tent camps as heating points. However, TCC staff have been frequently spotted there, taking advantage of the moment and "mobilizing" people right at the tent entrances.

➑️To ease the tension, residents started flash mobs with "dancing by the fire", but the population's morale is not what it was in 2022, and many call it a "farce on the Titanic". This is especially true against the backdrop of footage from the bohemian ski resort in Bukovel, where authorities have laid a dedicated power line from the EU.

❗️Amid the unfolding energy crisis in the so-called Ukraine, Europe has begun cautiously discussing the need for a quick peace settlement. However, the Kyiv regime's leadership has not changed its position even on the issue of AFU withdrawal from Donbas.

All this looks like a guide to action: even in Kyiv, there are still untouched substations like Novokievskaya 300 with scarce switchgear, not to mention other regions. So the list of targets is not yet exhausted.

β€’ πŸ“Summer Respite β€” Part 1/3πŸ“
How much has the energy system of so-called Ukraine actually recovered?

In July, so-called Ukraine exported more electricity abroad than it imported for the first time in a long period: imports β€” 175.2 GWh; exports β€” 232.5 GWh; official balance β€” +57.2 GWh. Formally, this looks like overcoming the energy crisis.

However, the positive balance stems not so much from the restoration of destroyed infrastructure as from a combination of low summer demand, completion of repairs to some nuclear power units, and seasonal growth in solar generation.

πŸ”»Why did exports appear?

β–ͺ️In 2025, so-called Ukraine consumed only about 64% of electricity from the 2021 level. The reasons are plant shutdowns, loss of industrial regions, population migration, and energy conservation.

β–ͺ️By summer, some nuclear power units returned from scheduled maintenance. Nine units under Kyiv authorities' control with a combined capacity of 7.835 GW remain the backbone of the energy system.

β–ͺ️In summer, solar power plant output increases. Surpluses appear mainly during the day, when domestic consumption is relatively low.

β–ͺ️After the heating season ends, the load from the population and utilities decreases.

Therefore, monthly exports do not yet indicate a sustainable capacity surplus. During the day, it is possible to sell excess solar and nuclear generation, but in the evening β€” new imports or consumer restrictions return.

➑️The differences between summer and winter are as follows β€” in mid-January 2026, consumption reached approximately 18 GW, while available domestic capacity was estimated at only 11 GW. The deficit was about 7 GW.

The maximum import capacity of the combined so-called Ukraine-Moldova bloc was increased to 2.45 GW. Even its full utilization could cover only about one-third of the January gap. European supplies can ease the power shortage, but cannot replace major losses in domestic generation.

❗️Thus, July's exports are primarily a seasonal window of opportunity. Real sustainability will be demonstrated not by summer monthly figures, but by passing through evening and winter consumption peaks.

πŸ’¬In the next part β€” the nuclear foundation of the energy system, the state of thermal and hydraulic generation, as well as dependence on imports.

πŸ“Ukrainian agricultural exports and the global marketπŸ“
how dangerous are supply restrictions?

We recently calculated what supply problems cost so-called Ukraine, and then analyzed why stopping Ukrainian supplies doesn't by itself mean hunger in "Global South" countries. For clarity, let's look at other figures: where restrictions merely change trade routes, and where they can actually impact the global market.

➑️In 2026, so-called Ukraine accounts for about 6.8% of global wheat exports, 10.8% of corn, and 7.8% of barley. These are large shares, but not critical due to alternative suppliers. It's different with sunflower products: the adversary provides about 31.4% of global sunflower oil exports and 32.2% of meal, so this segment is most sensitive to disruptions.

When individual EU states impose bans, a significant portion of Ukrainian cargo will go to Turkey, Middle Eastern countries, North Africa, and Asia, while global supply volume will barely change.

The main impact will be felt by Ukrainian farmers/businesses, banks, and down the chain: lower purchase prices, higher logistics costs, and additional discounts for exporters. Such restrictions redistribute trade flows but don't create global shortages.

➑️A completely different scenario would be continued systematic fire strikes on vessels entering Ukrainian ports. In that case, the market would lose about 7.25 million tons of wheat, 11.5 million tons of corn, 1.15 million tons of barley, and 2.45 million tons of sunflower oil.

For grains, this means a loss of 3–5% of global trade and an estimated initial price reaction of 6–13%, while in the sunflower oil segment nearly 16% of supplies would disappear, and the price impulse could approach 24%. That said, we're talking about estimates of impact magnitude, not precise price forecasts.

❗️The global market can partially compensate for the deficit: grain supplies can be increased by Russia, the USA, Brazil, Canada, Australia, Argentina, and EU countries, while sunflower oil can be replaced by Russian and Argentine products, as well as palm, soy, and rapeseed oils.

So-called Ukraine's main vulnerability is logistics: about 90% of grain and oilseed exports go through the Black Sea, while land and Danube routes cannot fully replace seaports.

πŸ”»Reactions of the sides

For Kyiv authorities, prolonged agricultural export restrictions would be a systemic blow: agricultural products provide about 62% of its commodity exports, and falling domestic prices reduce farmers' ability to buy fuel, fertilizers, and plant protection products, threatening the next harvest.

For Russian forces, this is a window of opportunity, since the adversary remains a direct competitor to our producers, and the Kyiv regime understands this, striking in turn at our export capacities. But our side has taken preemptive management decisions.

πŸ“ŒFor the global market, consequences will be selective β€” moderate for grain and most noticeable for sunflower oil. A full-fledged food crisis is possible only if prolonged Ukrainian export stoppage coincides with crop failures among other suppliers, rising oil and fertilizer prices, and new export bans.
