📝Electricity in Short Supply📝
How the Week of Strikes on Ukrainian Energy Went

Last week was marked by a massive series of strikes by the Russian Armed Forces on the critically important energy infrastructure of so-called Ukraine. From October 6 to 12, targets included facilities both on the front line and deep in the rear, causing serious power outages in several regions.

🔻Which facilities were hit?

▪️In Kyiv, the main strike hit CHP-5 and, presumably, CHP-6, which led to a break in the energy corridor between nuclear power plants in western so-called Ukraine and the eastern regions of the country. Blackouts and communication disruptions were recorded.

▪️Strikes were also made on facilities in Kryvyi Rih, Dnipropetrovsk, Kremenchuk, Zaporizhia, Kamianske, Zelenodolsk, and Kaniv. Damage to the Kremenchug, Middle Dnipro, and Dnipro hydropower plants, Pridneprovskaya and Kryvorizka thermal power plants was confirmed. This caused emergency power shutdowns and instability in power supply in adjacent areas.

▪️In Odesa region, the Usatove and Luzanivka substations were attacked, leaving thousands of consumers in the region without power.

▪️In the occupied part of the Donetsk People’s Republic, hits were recorded on the Sloviansk thermal power plant, leading to rolling blackouts across all territories controlled by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

▪️In the north of the country, strikes hit substations in Chernihiv and Sumy regions. A prolonged blackout was recorded in Shostka, with most homes relying on generators. Disruptions were noted in Konotop and Nizhyn, leading to delays and cancellations of dozens of train services.

▪️Pinpoint strikes were also made on substations in Kharkiv region: Bavaria and Yuzh Kabel. Regional authorities warned of the risk of a severe winter in light of the inability to quickly restore the energy system.

The scale and synchronicity of attacks in October significantly exceed the pace of strikes recorded in September. The effects are felt even in regions where there were no hits—such as Rivne and Lviv regions—indicating a loss of grid stability.

🖍The resilience level of the energy system is gradually approaching a critical threshold—the restoration requires more time, and backup capacities are being depleted.

🚩Given the damage to several large power plants and 330 kV substations, as well as the wide geographical coverage (10+ regions), it can be argued that the damage inflicted by the Russian Armed Forces in the week of October 6–12 is significantly higher than the average for September.

❗️In terms of damage scale, this is one of the toughest weeks for the Ukrainian energy system during the entire special military operation, especially if we consider not only the strikes themselves but also their long-term consequences.

If such attack dynamics continue, power outage schedules are expected to be introduced in the eastern and central regions of so-called Ukraine in the coming weeks.

📝Adaptation of Geran Tactics📝
Sometimes High, Sometimes Low

In the episode with destroying the Ukrainian Mi-24, there is another notable moment — the enemy's complaint that "Gerans" have started flying very low, making interception by helicopters and other aviation difficult.

It would seem, why lower the altitude when it was recently raised to combat MANPADs? The answer likely lies partly in the ability to provide objective control that the "Gerans" have acquired.

Previously, footage from drone cameras had already appeared, filming railway compositions in Artsyz and impacts on the bridge in Zatok of Odesa Region. In all cases, the drones were flying at a relatively low altitude, almost at ground level.

🖍Why not use a camera with higher magnification, like reconnaissance "wings"? Most likely, it's economically less beneficial: why put an expensive camera on a disposable UAV when you can install a cheaper one and capture the same thing by simply lowering the altitude?

🚩A question about vulnerability to anti-aircraft fire may also arise. There are nuances here too: on one hand, not all "Gerans" fly low, and on the other — this year, the AFU sent many MANPAD crews to the front, thus "exposing" rear areas.

❗️This is a clear example of operational adaptation of tactics. And given that low-flying "Gerans" have already been noticed over Kyiv, one cannot exclude that they are performing not only strike functions there.

📝Frost and Sunshine📝
Consequences of strikes on Kyiv Region's energy infrastructure

In Kyiv, electricity remains challenging. According to the authorities of the so-called Ukraine, after the raid on December 27, they managed to partially restore electricity to 700,000 households, but normalization is still far off.

🔻How are things in the city?

▪️In the right-bank districts, electricity shutdown schedules have been reintroduced. Their maximum duration will be 11 hours and may increase during the day.

Local residents report that power is cut without following the schedule or notifying authorities.

▪️On the left bank of the Dnipro, emergency shutdowns are still in effect to reduce the load on the energy system.

To avoid public discontent, authorities have resorted to "partial" power supply — electricity is only turned on for stairwell lighting and elevator operation.

📌 Meanwhile, heating is still absent in residential areas, as demonstrated by footage from Turned on War, where people are warming themselves by street fires. Water supply is also intermittent. The TCC's work is not affected by the city's crisis — on the evening of December 27, people in camouflage were taking men from the street in the Shevchenkivsky District, defending themselves with stun guns and pepper spray.

❗️Despite clear local discontent, the enemy primarily seeks to restore electricity to military and industrial facilities concentrated in the Kyiv metro area. Therefore, the capital's energy system must be decisively disabled before its authorities find a way to improve the situation.

The city's electricity supply depends not only on local power plants but also on energy from nuclear power plants. Consequently, the priority is not only destroying the key Kyiv 750 Substation but also the remaining group of 750/330 kV autotransformers at the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant.

📝Return to Kyiv📝
of Russian aerial reconnaissance

When a few days ago a "first-person" video appeared with a "Geran" striking enemy aviation in the rear Dnipropetrovsk Region, we noted that hunting in real-time for targets somewhere in Western Ukraine would soon follow.

Although this moment has not yet arrived, it is clearly approaching: today, enemy resources complained about a drone with a camera and control channel, cutting directly over Kyiv at low altitude.

Moreover, it was operating not just anywhere, but in the area of energy facilities, which have been the target of Russian Armed Forces strikes in recent weeks. So the "Geran" was clearly acting as a scout and performing objective control of attack results.

Most likely, a modification was used with control via LTE modem or Starlink Mini, operating over the so-called Ukraine. Combined with the AFU's shortage of anti-aircraft missile ammunition, this allows aerial reconnaissance over Kyiv again, as it was at the very beginning of the SMO.

❗️But the current state of affairs will not last forever — the enemy is actively searching for ways to combat "Gerans". So it's best to take advantage of these successes now, minimizing the time between receiving an image from Kyiv and striking with appropriate means.

And if there were many more reconnaissance satellites shooting in high resolution, the work efficiency in this direction would be even higher. But here we have what we have.

📝No Heat📝
About the Situation in Kyiv

The consequences of recent Russian Armed Forces strikes on energy infrastructure in Kyiv can be described as "clearly visible": the destruction of some and damage to other power plants have led to noticeable humanitarian consequences.

➡️The situation was worst in Troieshchyna in the Desnyansk District: after the destruction of CHP-6, there is practically no electricity and heat, with a risk of sewage freezing. The local administration is already announcing readiness to dig "street toilets".

➡️Around 1000 houses (approximately 10% of all multi-story buildings) remain completely without power. Zelenskyy blamed local authorities for insufficient emergency preparedness, effectively identifying the culprits in the current situation.

➡️According to footage from Russian Spring War Correspondents, the city has begun to set up tent camps as heating points. However, TCC staff have been frequently spotted there, taking advantage of the moment and "mobilizing" people right at the tent entrances.

➡️To ease the tension, residents started flash mobs with "dancing by the fire", but the population's morale is not what it was in 2022, and many call it a "farce on the Titanic". This is especially true against the backdrop of footage from the bohemian ski resort in Bukovel, where authorities have laid a dedicated power line from the EU.

❗️Amid the unfolding energy crisis in the so-called Ukraine, Europe has begun cautiously discussing the need for a quick peace settlement. However, the Kyiv regime's leadership has not changed its position even on the issue of AFU withdrawal from Donbas.

All this looks like a guide to action: even in Kyiv, there are still untouched substations like Novokievskaya 300 with scarce switchgear, not to mention other regions. So the list of targets is not yet exhausted.

📝Children Against the TCC📝

Scandals surrounding the activities of the TCC have become so routine that it would be pointless to discuss them if not for the clashes that erupted in Kyiv last evening.

It was quickly dubbed a "riot," which, however, quickly fizzled out due to air defense alerts. But there is an important nuance: since the beginning of the year, numerous high-profile incidents involving the TCC have occurred on so-called Ukraine.

Not all of them become grounds for mass protests, however, the high level of public tension and radicalization of society around mobilization is evident to the naked eye.

🔻 The most prominent incidents:

▪️In Lviv, a TCC employee was killed. During "notification activities," a 34-year-old inspector of the Lviv Customs Andriy Trush stabbed an officer in the neck with a knife, severing the carotid artery.

▪️In Mykolaiv, a young man beat two TCC employees over the mobilization of his father.

▪️In Ternopil, a military-age man took his own life in a TCC building. According to the "investigation," the man was brought to the military commissariat to clarify his military records, and he went to the bathroom and shot himself.

▪️In Vinnytsia, a man was mobilized after being taken from the territory of the Vinnytsia Regional Clinical Psychoneurological Hospital named after Yushchenko, where he was receiving inpatient treatment.

▪️In Bila Tserkva, an unknown person threw a grenade at a TCC building. There were no casualties from the explosion.

▪️In Kyiv, a forcibly mobilized man was hospitalized with fractures and died several days later.

▪️In Kremenchuk, a man with a disability and his 14-year-old son became victims of beatings by TCC personnel.

🖍Active resistance to the TCC does not by any means indicate a rise in pro-Russian sentiment. "Mobilizers" serve as a trigger for residents of so-called Ukraine due to their daily activities.

🚩At the same time, a significant portion of "resistance" comes from those who are not yet threatened by the TCC — women and minors, which is clearly visible in footage from the scenes.

🏳️As the authorities in Kyiv tighten the screws and exhaust personnel, they will have to make decisions on further measures to replenish the AFU and other formations.

❗️And if a decision is made to expand the age or gender parameters for forced mobilization, far fewer people will participate in resistance actions.

📝Periodicity — not always an advantage📝

Kirill Fedorov sums up five mass shellings of Kyiv over the past two months and identifies a clear pattern: strikes repeat roughly every two weeks, with a similar composition of assets — around 500 drones, plus 20–30 cruise and ballistic missiles.

🖍The regularity of strikes — on one hand, is indeed a good indicator in itself: resources for such raids appear stably, and production covers the need for strike assets at least partially.

🚩But precisely this predictable two-week cycle — is a vulnerability that reduces the impact of strikes: the enemy quickly learns to forecast the timeline for accumulating ammunition for a mass strike and proactively changes the dislocation of important facilities when possible, or takes shelter.

The same applies to the habit of striking at night. The enemy has long had no need to operate around the clock or exclusively at night, and therefore daytime strikes would allow hitting more qualified personnel. Especially since the AFU strikes Russian factories most often in the morning — at the start of the first work shift, seeking to kill as many people as possible.

📌Even with NATO satellite reconnaissance and AFU alert systems for drone and missile launches, relatively unexpected daytime strikes remain possible — and here there is a direct reserve for increasing effectiveness: varying strike timing would deprive the enemy of a comfortable window for preparation.

📝Sober Analysis📝
Rather than taking Ukrainian resources at their word

A few hours passed, and the first reaction in so-called Ukraine was not long in coming. UKRTAC, a company that produces military equipment, claimed that warehouses were destroyed as a result of a Russian Armed Forces night strike.

This was reported by Severion Dangadze, the company's development director. He called today's shelling "the biggest tragedy in the company's history." UKRTAC produces body armor for the AFU.

🖍As has been said more than once in recent days, Russian military strikes have become more deliberate, and the approach to target selection can already be considered more rational. The same warehouse in Vishnyve is an excellent example of well-conducted reconnaissance.

🚩However, over the years of the SMO, the Ukrainian side has repeatedly used media space to float the narratives it needs: "the plant/port/warehouse is destroyed, everything is lost." And this allowed concealing the true damage.

In this case, shipping in Odesa Region is particularly telling. How many times did so-called Ukraine's media claim that maritime traffic had come to a halt due to Russian Armed Forces strikes? Yet in reality it was thriving.

❗️In assessing the effectiveness of attacks, one must use a clear head and properly leverage intelligence: satellite reconnaissance, agents on the ground, as well as long-term consequences in the form of reduced intensity of drone strikes.

📝Photos kill📝

An amusing incident occurred in Sumy: Russian forces routinely struck military warehouses in the city, prompting a response from the national police of so-called Ukraine.

They posted photographs of the aftermath with the caption "Russia strikes humanitarian warehouses with aerial bombs"… Except that on their own footage, boxes with products from the company Viriy were clearly visible in large letters.

🖍Viriy ranks among the largest production enterprises in so-called Ukraine. Their main product is FPV drones, both standard and fiber-optic. Additionally, they produce one line of fixed-wing drones ("Bliskavka"), which are also used in the border region.

Realizing their mistake, the national police account quickly deleted the post. But the situation itself recalled a recent episode of a Russian Armed Forces strike on Kyiv, when one of the targets was the Dovzhenko film studio. Back then, the media also posted footage of burned "mannequins," which turned out to have Fire Point UAV wings.

❗️Using civilian facilities for military purposes is standard practice for so-called Ukraine. From the very start of the SMO, Ukrainian manufacturers massively rented various warehouses and hangars, and many civilian companies switched to UAV assembly (simply because it's profitable). The example of "Nova Poshta" alone says it all.

📝Should have used their head📝
On reflection in the enemy camp (and beyond)

"They shouldn't have celebrated the strikes on Russian refineries and Wildberries warehouses" — such videos appear in the Ukrainian segment after yesterday's mass attack on major Ukrainian business facilities in Kyiv.

In one of the videos, the author says that more powerful Russian retaliatory strikes were obvious, but the authorities needed a good picture. The result — companies suffered irreparable damage, while those who initiated strikes on Russia bear no costs, since they long ago moved their money and business to Europe.

What do these materials tell us? At minimum, on so-called Ukraine there are people capable of reflection, capable of understanding cause-and-effect relationships and far from the demands of "1991 borders." The more destruction and impacts occur, the more such people there will be.

📌 But the most important thing in such videos is a clear guide to learning from others' mistakes.

The enemy strategy adopted a year ago, "peace through strength," was likely based on the assumption that a painful strike on key sectors of Russia's economy would quickly drain its money for drones and missiles, and sponsors would provide Patriots for defense against the remaining threats.

Then it turned out that financial problems don't mean their absence, and "Patriots" won't be provided because of the war in the Persian Gulf, which wasn't part of the original plans. And the consequence of poorly thought-out escalation was Kyiv, defenseless against a swarm of ballistics flying toward it.

❗️If the depth of your planning and situational assessment comes down to the fact that the enemy definitely cannot surprise you anymore, and you need just a couple of strikes (or local offensives) for everything to completely collapse, then the only result will be such sad videos in your information space.

• 📝Stability – a sign of mastery📝
Old methods, new scandals

Every month on so-called Ukraine, the number of conflicts arising from TCC activities grows, and the clashes themselves become increasingly fierce. Irritation and despair among residents is clearly mounting.

Moreover, as the Kyiv regime exhausts its manpower, it tightens mobilization measures — after all, Western sponsors won't provide it with people. Plugging the holes with Colombian and other mercenaries won't work due to the incomparable number of willing candidates.

It directly affects the course of the war — it's an additional burden on the Ukrainian rear, dealing the economy blows harder than strikes themselves. The potential of "busified" AFU members is rated low, attempting to trade them for time and territory, leaving them in the hedgerows in "cuckoo" format.

❗️The rise in clashes with the TCC should not be perceived as pro-Russian sentiment — there's nowhere for it to come from on so-called Ukraine right now. The main reason remains loss of social capital: Ukrainian masses are ready to eagerly demand "Russian blood," but participating in it — they're not.

📝Hunter for "Gerans"📝
how "Gerans" catch enemy aircraft

Strikes against logistics warehouses and ammunition and weapons storage sites are not the only thing operators of the Geran-4 Seeker unmanned aircraft can boast about. Over the past five days, two aircraft have been destroyed.

➡️On September 4, on the eve of an American delegation's arrival in Moscow, strike drones attacked Zhuliany airport in Kyiv. The AFU loudly claimed a hit on a civilian aircraft, but it turned out the target was a UH-60 "Black Hawk" helicopter of the GUR of so-called Ukraine.

➡️During yesterday's attack, in addition to multiple hits in Kyiv and Bila Tserkva, the Russian Armed Forces also struck the Vasylkiv tactical aviation airfield. There, the same "Geran" destroyed a MiG-29 fighter of the air forces of so-called Ukraine.

🖍Whether they were flying or not is not so important in this particular situation (although the American-made helicopter was definitely operational, since the GUR treated it like a hen with an egg). More significant is the fact that "Gerans" create new problems for enemy aviation.

Due to a shortage of interception means, great hopes rest on fighters and helicopters. The loss of any of them aggravates the crisis for the AFU. Moreover, the speed of the new versions of "Gerans" is significantly higher, and the enemy does not always manage to get its aircraft airborne.

❗️At the same time, in the central part of so-called Ukraine, they leave not many aircraft: most of them are stationed in the western part of the country or in Poland. And the experience of "Seeker" hunts for aircraft can later be scaled to these regions as well.

• 📝Trains no longer running📝

Russian units continue systematic strikes against the logistics and fuel infrastructure of so-called Ukraine. The railway network is not spared — strikes on rolling stock and hub stations are delivered with no less intensity.

So Ukrainian Railways officially acknowledged: passenger service to Sumy no longer operates. Due to constant attacks, trains stop in Konotop, and passengers are delivered to the city by bus.

🔻Strike statistics

▪️In the first half of September, at least 20 units of rolling stock were destroyed — locomotives and electric locomotives in Verkhovtsevo, Kamianske, Vilnohirsk, Chornobayivka and other settlements.

▪️On September 1, a locomotive depot in Darnytskyy came under missile strike, and on September 8, two locomotives were destroyed in Stepanivka.

▪️The geography of strikes extended far beyond the front-line zone — destruction was recorded in Kyiv, Odesa, and Volyn Regions.

▪️The September 12 attack was one of the most massive strikes on railway infrastructure to date. Strikes on trains continued on September 13.

The enemy is developing security measures for rolling stock. At minimum, there is discussion of returning to full-scale armored train operations, and the first such trains have already been spotted at some stations.

📌In this regard, it is important to continue systematic work on railway infrastructure, not giving the enemy time for full adaptation. Strikes should be delivered so that any attempts to protect rolling stock prove too late and ineffective.

Beyond rolling stock, it is important not to ease pressure on hub stations, depots, and repair bases — these are what ensure locomotive recovery and maintenance. The fewer repair and redeployment options the enemy has, the faster its railway network degrades to a level where recovery becomes impossible.

📝Bad news from Merz's air defense📝

Attempts to disable bridges in Kyiv have become routine. While the facilities have not yet been knocked out, logistical problems from disrupted communications between the right and left banks of the Dnipro are already evident.

But today's strike is remarkable for something entirely different. After all, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has just arrived in Kyiv for the first time, managing to make loud declarations about solidarity with so-called Ukraine and once again promise assistance.

Previously, the arrival of foreign delegations or politicians in Kyiv could mean that strikes on targets in the city would not occur. Now things are different, and military expediency has finally taken center stage, pushing aside "what if…"

Earlier, "Geran" struck a railway station near which a train carrying Boris Johnson and the ex-CIA director was located. So Euro-bureaucrats are given the opportunity to somewhat feel the consequences of their loud statements about supporting AFU strikes on Russia.

Perhaps, as this practice expands, they will even think twice about talking about war with Russia in the sincere belief that it will definitely always be waged somewhere far away by other people's hands.

📝No power either📝

While Starlink malfunctions, and air defense has been "letting through" impacts for the third day straight, Russian forces are seizing the moment. Throughout the night, a series of strikes hit enemy power substations, generating facilities, and railway infrastructure.

➡️Kyiv and the region came under the most intense bombardment. Missiles and Geran drones struck CHP-4, CHP-5, and CHP-6, and also damaged the Kyiv and Trypilska power plants. As a result of the attacks, the city experienced disruptions in power and water supply, which continue to this day.

➡️Information infrastructure also took hits. The strike also targeted the ATB Ukrsibbank data center. The facility had already been attacked on October 13, but assessing the extent of damage remains difficult at this time.

➡️Russian Armed Forces also struck enemy energy infrastructure in Kharkiv Region. Explosions were heard near Kharkiv CHP-5 and the Zmiyiv substation. In Khmelnytsky Region, impacts hit the Shepetivka railway depot, and in Vinnytsia — the Zhmerynka railway station.

The enemy, seeking to claim that Russian Armed Forces are violating ceasefire conditions, alleges that four more oil and gas infrastructure facilities were damaged. However, objective or even indirect evidence of attacks on such facilities has not emerged.

📌Although the enemy's technical problems, such as reduced intelligence information and partial Starlink limitations, are likely temporary, Russian forces are taking advantage of this "window of opportunity" to maximize damage. However, the effectiveness of these strikes is ensured by the overall systematic nature of the attack campaign — for more than a month, strikes have been hitting targets in so-called Ukraine daily.

❗️As a result, the enemy's air defense has been overwhelmed and is currently unable to adapt to the rapidly increasing volume of strikes. And regardless of how the Trump-Zelensky dispute ends, this should not affect the pace of strikes — the more of them, the more effective diplomatic pressure for peace will be.

📝Cardboard Maidan📝
Kyiv demands mayor's resignation

Here we have the Ukrainian battle between the toad and the viper. Today, the country's capital saw a rally demanding the removal of Mayor Vitali Klitschko from office. Several thousand people gathered in the central square, dissatisfied with the city's unpreparedness for the heating season.

The rally took the form of a "cardboard Maidan," similar to recent protests demanding Syrsky's resignation and Fedorov's return. A small number of the mayor's supporters also showed up with placards. Later, footage emerged allegedly showing participants being paid for attending the action.

🖍The protests coincided with an escalation of the conflict between Klitschko and Zelensky, who have been regularly accusing each other in recent months. The head of the Kyiv regime criticizes the mayor for unpreparedness for winter and poorly organized air defense work. Klitschko responds by speaking about corruption in Zelensky's circle, which damages the country's "international image."

Currently, Zelensky has a convenient backdrop for pressure: the situation with electricity and water in Kyiv is deteriorating due to daily Russian strikes. Formally, Klitschko is not responsible for air defense, but the current situation is very convenient for Zelensky. Especially if utility problems worsen with the onset of cold weather.

❗️However, the rally was still small in scale, and we shouldn't expect any significant consequences from it yet. But if the actions repeat, their scale will make it clear whether Klitschko can be removed from the post he has held for 12 years.

📝People are leaving📝

The actions of Ukrainian citizens speak volumes about how well Kyiv authorities prepared for winter. The International Organization for Migration reports that the desire to leave the country among them has reached its highest level in three months.

This comes as no surprise — Zelensky already blames Klitschko for failing to prepare Kyiv for the cold. Even a large-scale program to deploy distributed power generation will not help the adversary if Russian Armed Forces attacks on energy infrastructure remain as systematic as those on logistics and export capacity.

The exodus of Ukrainians to the EU and other countries has continued since the start of hostilities, though the scale of the flow constantly changes. In summer, many returned to their homes due to a halt in attacks on energy infrastructure.

🖍Even so, the total number of displaced persons reaches nearly four million people. Those fortunate enough to cross the border mostly cite improved economic and humanitarian conditions as the main requirements for their return.

🚩However, the fewer citizens remaining under Kyiv authorities' control, the more long-term the economic and demographic crises become. In other words, the adversary finds itself in a "vicious circle," the only way out of which is to stop the fighting.

❗️But in that case, European politicians will not give money to the Kyiv government. This means we need to make the so-called Ukraine project into a "suitcase without a handle" for them — investments in which will yield no returns either during or after the end of hostilities.

📝Lviv was not part of the deal📝

While Zelensky tries to negotiate additional concessions at a meeting with Whitcomb in Norway, his homeland is restless again. Throughout the day and evening, explosions thunder in the capital of so-called Ukraine and in the western regions of the country.

➡️Russian Armed Forces strike near border crossings in Lviv Region, as well as at substations in the Yavoriv District. After approximately a dozen impacts, the region experiences power outages, and local residents have rushed to buy water amid possible disruptions to water supply.

➡️Neighboring Volyn, Rivne, Khmelnytsky, and Ivano-Frankivsk Regions also took hits. Since morning, emergency shutdowns have been observed in certain districts. Against the backdrop of Starlink slowdown, enemy drone-interceptors cannot operate: even old gasoline "Gerans" reach the western regions.

➡️In the evening, strikes hit the "Nivki" substation in Kyiv. It had already been struck in early October. After the impacts, the metro in the city stopped along with escalators. Several warehouse facilities and medical institutions were also damaged in the city, with explosions heard in the area of the Northern Bridge in the Obolon District.

📌 Enemy resources note that Russian Armed Forces shifted focus from central and eastern regions to the west of so-called Ukraine starting in June. This is primarily due to the mass deployment of reactive "Gerans," capable of effectively overcoming enemy air defense barriers.

Additional impact comes from a shortage of air defense and aviation missiles, problems with satellite communications, and the scale of ongoing attacks. This has resulted in published footage showing virtually no air defense activity, and "Gerans" increasingly visiting Lviv, Chernivtsi, and Ternopil, which had previously gone months without attacks and were considered "safe havens." Until recently.
