RB Salzburg v FC Bayern München - Friendly Photo by Harry Langer/DeFodi Images via Getty Images Imagine Bayern Munich’s Leroy Sané leaving for Borussia Dortmund... Sané discussed at BVB? (Sport Bild via @iMiaSanMia)Borussia Dortmund has kicked around a pursuit of Bayern Munich star Leroy Sané, but the Black and Yellows faced a couple of obstacles. First, Sané’s salary would be too great for Dortmund to handle (whether it is just too much for the budget threshold or BVB feels Sané’s production does not meet the hefty salary is up for debate), but second — and this is interesting — if the Germany international opts to leave Bayern Munich, he wants to play somewhere not in Germany: Leroy Sané’s name was briefly discussed at Borussia Dortmund. However, two reasons made any potential move unattainable. Firstly, BVB cannot afford Sané’s salary of around €20m/year. Secondly, the player himself has decided not to stay in the Bundesliga should he leave Bayern. It is really tough to discern whether or not Bayern Munich is really done with Sané or if they are just shaking him down to a bottomline number that he will accept. Despite recent reports, it feels like Bayern Munich really just wants to get Sané down to something that matches his production level and consistency. BVB in mix for Rashford? (@Plettigoal)If BVB cannot get Leroy Sané, maybe it already has its next potential target. Borussia Dortmund could be battling Paris Saint-Germain for Manchester United attacker Marcus Rashford (who has also been loosely linked to Bayern Munich): ⚫️ Borussia Dortmund exploring deal to sign Marcus #Rashford. Pletti says Mai-noooooo on rumors linking Bayern to United midfielder (@Plettigoal)Believe it or not, there are rumors linking Bayern Munich to Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo floating around during this latest edition of the winter silly season. If you dare, let’s take a gander at what is floating around cyberspace regarding this rumor: BAYERN MUNICH are set to join the race for Kobbie Mainoo, SunSport can reveal. The Manchester United midfielder could be on his way out of Old Trafford if the club are unable to afford his wage demands.Mainoo - whose current £20,000-a-week contract expires in 2027 - is hoping for a fresh deal worth £200,000-a-week. But United are believed to be reluctant to go that high - which has led to reports Mainoo could leave the club either during this window or over the summer.Chelsea are at the front of the queue for the midfielder, but SunSport has learned that the London club will not be the only side chasing him. German giants Bayern are also long-term admirers and are planning to make a move if he becomes available. Bayern Munich and Chelsea are both interested in Man Utd midfielder Kobbie Mainoo, according to @TheSunFootball.Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg, however, says that is nonsense: Rumors linking FC Bayern with Kobbie #Mainoo are wide of the mark!

Chelsea v Morecambe - Emirates FA Cup Third Round Photo by Crystal Pix/MB Media/Getty Images Will Bayern Munich make a move? According to a report from Laurie Whitwell of The Athletic (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich could still have the potential to get Chelsea FC attacker Christopher Nkunku if the German table-topper wants him. Per Whitwell, Nkunku is available on loan. However, it has been widely assumed that to make a move for a player like Nkunku, Mathys Tel would have to agree to leave Bayern Munich on a loan or even a full transfer. Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg (via @iMiaSanMia) is reporting that Tel still does not want to go anywhere, despite his lack of playing time. Plettenger also stated that Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl still wants Nkunku. Mathys Tel had made it clear internally that he wanted to stay at FC Bayern. But the *lack of* playing time in recent games will still influence his decision. Bayern are not putting any public pressure on him, but things are currently difficult for him under Vincent Kompany. Bayern are aware that Chelsea still have Tel high on their list, with other teams, including some from the Bundesliga, interested as well. Further talks with Tel will take place this week, with Max Eberl still interested in signing Christopher Nkunku. In Bayern Munich’s last three games, Tel has not made an appearance. Overall, Tel has only played 396 minutes this season across 13 games this season. Tz journalist Philipp Kessler (via @iMiaSanMia) backed up Plettenberg’s report, but did state that Tel wants to be shown a “clear plan” and also that a meeting will take place this week between Bayern Munich and Tel’s camp: Mathys Tel is currently not interested in a move to Chelsea as he does not see it as the ideal destination for his development. Tel still loves Bayern, but wants to be shown a clear plan. The club will have to follow up their promises with actions in order to keep him. A meeting between the player’s camp and the people in charge at Bayern is planned for this week. With just a few days left in the transfer window, Tel and Bayern Munich will need to get this situation sorted out quickly. As for Nkunku, Plettenberg is reporting that Manchester United could make a move for him: | Understand Chelsea and Manchester United remain in contact regarding a transfer of Christopher #Nkunku until Deadline Day. #CFC This is also because a departure of Alejandro Garnacho still remains a possible scenario. #MUFC⚠️ Nkunku is open to a move. A deal with FC Bayern is (also) still possible, but it depends on Mathys Tel, who may reconsider his decision to stay at Bayern this week. But Tel, currently not considering a move to Chelsea as per @kessler_philipp. Is Bayern Munich setting the bar too low for itself with some of the decisions that it is making? FC Bayern Munich Training Session Photo by F. Noever/FC Bayern via Getty Images Say, what? According to a report from Sky Sport journalists Florian Plettenberg and Kerry Hau, Mathys Tel could be rethinking his stance. A stay with Bayern Munich could be in play for the French youngster, which seemed like a longshot just yesterday: For the first time in the past four days, Mathys #Tel is no longer ruling out staying at FC Bayern after rejecting Tottenham today! Bayern have now also received information that a stay is possible. However, further discussions are ongoing. Manchester United, who contacted Bayern by phone, remain in the race. After turning down Tottenham Hotspur on Friday, Bayern Munich attacker Mathys Tel has decided where he wants to go — now it is just a matter of the two clubs working out what could be a “complicated” deal. FC Bayern München v Celtic FC - UEFA Champions League 2024/25 League Knockout Play-off Second Leg Photo by Harry Langer/DeFodi Images via Getty Images Bayern Munich is hosting Bayer Leverkusen in the UCL today... Bayern sets price on Coman (Bild via @iMiaSanMia)Bayern Munich has extended quite a few players so far, with a few others reportedly nearing new deals. In addition, Bayern Munich looks as if it is prepared to push all of its chips to the middle of the table in an effort to get Florian Wirtz this summer. To even attempt to afford all of these moves, Bayern Munich has to generate funds from somewhere — and one source of income could be a sale of Kingsley Coman: Bayern have set a €35-45m price tag for Kingsley Coman. Arsenal and Saudi Pro League are potential destinations for the Frenchman, who is open to a summer move. Coman is one of the players Bayern want to offload to reduce the wage bill and raise funds.Uh...Coman is not worth that much anymore. At 28-years-old, inconsistent, and oft-injured, Coman does not offer much a skill-set that clubs cannot find or develop for a lot less money. Moreover, Coman’s struggles with his crossing and finishing have continued on from his early days at Bayern Munich. It would be awesome to see Bayern Munich get as much as it is asking, but — in reality — Coman is just a guy with some close-range explosiveness, some good ideas, and a willingness to defend. Sure, those are wanted traits in today’s game, but there are more complete, better players who will be available for less money. All that said, godspeed to Bayern Munich if it can get that type of fee for Coman in today’s market. Šeško on the move? (@Plettigoal)RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Šeško does, indeed, have a release clause and several clubs — Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal FC — are interested: EXCL | Until now, there had only been talk of a verbal agreement, but Benjamin #Sesko has a formally fixed release clause in his contract until 2029. This clause can be activated starting this summer. It is tied to various parameters – such as games played, goals, and assists – and increases regularly. Currently, the clause stands at around €70m for the 21-y/o top striker, but by the end of the season, it is expected to reach approximately €80m.All top English clubs have expressed interest, including Manchester United, Tottenham, and Arsenal. The only club not involved in the race is Manchester City. #MUFC #AFC #MCFC However, Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg noted that Chelsea FC could also get involved and Tottenham might not really have a chance to land Šeško: RB Leipzig are aware of the strong interest from several top Premier League clubs in Benjamin #Sesko. As previously revealed, the 21-y/o top striker has a formally fixed release clause for the summer, which could rise to €80m by the end of the season.Tottenham currently have little chance, while Manchester United, Chelsea, and Arsenal have all expressed concrete interest. #MUFC #CFC #AFCThe timing of all of this is...troublesome if you are like this author, who think Šeško could be the ideal successor for Harry Kane. Bavarian Podcast Works — Preview Show: Bayern Munich vs. Bayer Leverkusen (Champions League)Well, here we are...here the (bleep) we are. Bayern Munich is set to host Bayer Leverkusen in a massively anticipated Champions League showdown. Leg one of this tie is being held at the Allianz Arena and will present the Bavarians with the opportunity to get a jump on the talented and dangerous visitors. The game is the spectacle, but there is a sideshow going on with Bayern Munich’s public courtship of Florian Wirtz — which should ramp up the hard feelings and intensity of this contest even more. Let’s dive into all of that and more on the Bavarian Podcast Works — Preview Show: Catching up on the Florian Wirtz transfer rumors. How each team got to this point and how they fared against each other earlier this season.A look at the injury situations for both Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen.A guess at…
Bayer 04 Leverkusen v SV Werder Bremen - Bundesliga Photo by Pau Barrena/Getty Images Bayern Munich is back at it... Wirtz staying put? (kicker)Well, this would change some plans for Bayern Munich this summer. Per kicker, Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz could be getting close to signing a contract extension with Die Werkself: Contract talks between Florian Wirtz and Bayer 04 began at least half a year ago. However, the game has long since stopped. The framework for an extension is in place. However, the star’s approval is still missing.Along with the still-unanswered question about the future of coach Xabi Alonso, this is the hottest topic currently occupying club officials and fans of Bayer 04 Leverkusen. Will the German double winner be able to continue to enjoy the footballing skills of exceptional player Florian Wirtz next season ? Or will the Werkself have to sell Germany’s best footballer this summer because his contract expires in June 2027?After all, with a transfer value of well over 100 million euros, it is considered far too risky to keep the playmaker with the current contract term until the summer of 2026. Bayer would then no longer have a strong position in the transfer poker and would no longer have all the reins firmly in hand. The player’s side doesn’t see the (personal) development of the still only 21-year-old as complete. At Leverkusen, he could further mature in a leadership position and further develop his leadership qualities. This wouldn’t necessarily be the case with a move to one of Europe’s top clubs. In addition, the prospect of preparing for his first World Cup participation in 2026 in the USA, Canada and Mexico in a familiar and at the same time top-class sporting environment and thus completely suitable without any disruptive factors is a pro argument for staying at Bayer.Interestingly, kicker also notes that Wirtz’s decision is independent of what happens with coach Xabi Alonso, who has been rumored to a move this summer as well. As for Wirtz, this could not only change Bayern Munich’s plans for the summer, but for the future as well. Whatever Bayern Munich spends this summer on other players could affect its ability to make a play for Wirtz in 2026 — when the club could also be looking to sign a high-priced striker. United monitoring Nmecha, but not all-in on midfielder (@Plettigoal)Manchester United is keeping an eye on Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha, but his price tag and roster crowding concerns could prevent a move from happening: Manchester United are closely monitoring the situation of Felix #Nmecha, as per BILD and confirmed. @berger_pj However, there are currently no concrete talks or negotiations with either the player or Borussia Dortmund. One reason is that #MUFC still have an excess of players in his position. Dortmund are demanding at least €50 million in the summer. His contract runs until 2028.This is what Sky Sport’s Patrick Berger initially said: Manchester United are interested in Felix Nmecha (24/ ) and have him on their shortlist, as Bild reported - confirmed! Jason Wilcox, the technical director of #MUFC, knows him well from his time as Manchester City’s academy chief. However, there has been no contact yet. Borussia Dortmund do not want to sell Nmecha, but if they fail to qualify for a European competition, they may be forced to. Price valuation: €50m+. #BVB ⚫️ ManUnited have a packed midfield with Mainoo, Casemiro, Ugarte, Bruno Fernandes ... But if a player leaves, Nmecha could become a serious option for @ManUtd.. Casemiro is among those who could be on the move. FC Bayern München v FC St. Pauli 1910 - Bundesliga Photo by S. Mellar/FC Bayern via Getty Images Can Harry Kane score a few this weekend for Bayern Munich? Kane blows off EPL rumors (@Plettigoal)Rumors have been swirling for weeks that Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane might be thinking about a return to England this summer. Per Kane, he is “happy to be at Bayern”, but also leans on the old adage of not thinking too far ahead: Harry #Kane confirms our news that he is not thinking about a transfer at all. Kane feels very comfortable at FC Bayern. Rumours linking him with Liverpool and Manchester United are wide of the mark. #LFC #MUFC The possibility of returning to Spurs at some point was already agreed upon when he joined Bayern – but that is not a topic at the moment either.Kane told @ESPNFC: “A few random stories out there for sure. I don’t know where they come from. But I’m happy here at Bayern.”Kane had a lot more to say to ESPN FC’s Archie Rhind-Tutt (via @iMiaSanMia) on the topic as well. “I’m not sure (about returning to England). I’ve said throughout my whole career, I’m not someone who likes to think too far ahead. I’m extremely happy here. I think we have a fantastic team, fantastic coaching staff and I just feel like whilst I feel like I’m in the best condition, I wanna play at the highest level possible, and this is as high as it gets,” said Kane. “So, I know a lot can change in football in a short space of time and things can happen, but ultimately my focus is here. I’m not thinking about any other league or any other team. And with football, I like to just go with the flow and at the moment the flow is here at Bayern Munich.”As of now, it does feel like Kane will stick around for one more season and then think about an exit in 2026. However, Kane did not exactly definitively squash the rumors with his statements, which — surely — some fans would have liked. Like any other situation, it will take a few turns, but 2026 still seems like a more feasible scenario for the player and club alike. Akanji to Madrid? (Marca via ESPN)Real Madrid is keeping a close eye on Manchester City defender Manuel Akanji as Pep Guardiola’s club is rumored to be looking to reboot the squad: Manchester City defender Manuel Akanji wants a change of scenery in the summer despite his contract running until 2027 and he has caught the attention of Real Madrid. Even so, the 29-year-old doesn’t fit into Los Blancos’ strategy of signing young players who could dominate for a decade or bringing in players whose contracts are coming to an end. Bavarian Podcast Works — The Bundesliga Rundown with Marcus Iredahl: Matchday 27 (Bavarian Football Works)Spring is in the air in Europe, which can only mean one thing: we’re nearing the end of another Bundesliga season! In this episode, we discuss:RB Leipzig’s decision to part ways with Marco RoseWhy Borussia Mönchengladbach are thriving this season after a relegation-threatened 2023-24 campaignMönchengladbach and the power of trusting a youth systemWill TSG Hoffenheim be relegated this year?Thomas Müller and the lost art of the one-club playerBayern front office headed for different look? (Sport1’s Stefan Kumberger via @iMiaSanMia)Bayern Munich could be kicking around the idea of “restructuring” the front office in an effort to put more focus on the campus operations: Bayern’s supervisory board has been considering expanding or restructuring the management team for some time. They want closer integration between the first team and the FC Bayern Campus. There’s a big desire for top talents to make it into the first team on a larger scale.Mario Gomez is particularly appreciated by Uli Hoeneß. The supervisory board has closely followed Gomez’s career in management. However, there has not yet been any direct, concrete contact. So far, it remains merely an idea. The rumours about Gomez also shed light on Max Eberl and his work. Eberl under scrutiny by the supervisory board. Given his numerous difficult tasks, it’s almost in the nature of things that some decisions…
Spain v France - UEFA Nations League 2025 Semi-final Photo by Jean Catuffe/Getty Images Bayern Munich is prepping to face Auckland City FC... With Barcola out of the mix, the focus shifts to Williams (Sky Sport’s Florian Plettenberg and Kerry Hau via @iMiaSanMia)As was first reported by Foot Mercato (and covered here by BFW), Bayern Munich likely has to give up on its pursuit of Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola as he is happy with his situation in France: Bradley Barcola remains Bayern’s preferred candidate for the left wing because he fulfills everything the club is looking for in the position. However, PSG want to keep him. That’s why Bayern are currently pushing the talks with Nico Williams. The latter has given the go-ahead for negotiations between his management and Bayern. Concrete talks have taken place. The Spaniard can well imagine a move to Munich. In the first talks, Williams’ management asked for €21-22m gross per year, which Bayern will definitely not pay. At the moment, the financial range being discussed is around €20m gross per year, potentially including salary and signing fee (if the signing fee is €10m, divided by 5 years, that would make it €2m/year, included in the €20m/year package). That’s the situation at the moment. Release clause is worth €60-65m.Per ESPN, though, Liverpool FC might be feeling itself a bit and could make a pitch to Barcola: Liverpool have decided that PSG’s Bradley Barcola is their next transfer target once they get a deal for Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz over the line, reports The Sun. The 22-year-old’s future at Les Parisiens is in doubt, even though he scored 10 goals and provided 14 assists in Ligue 1 in the 2024-25 season. Also, the report says that Liverpool are refusing to rule out a move for Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, but a valuation set at around £150m would end their interest. The Reds will look to offload Darwin Núñez to raise funds and will consider offers for Luis Díaz and Diogo Jota. TalkSPORT reports that Núñez is wanted by Al Hilal.ESPN also checked in with additional information on Williams as well: Talks have been held between Bayern Munich and the representatives of Athletic Club star Nico Williams, reports Sky Sports Deutschland. The 22-year-old has informed Bayern that he wants to join them and is demanding a gross salary of around €20, while his release clause is set at around €60m to €65m. The Bavarians are also looking at PSG’s Barcola, but there is a feeling that a transfer will be difficult to complete. However, Marca reports that Athletic plan to offer Williams a bumper new contract in the hope he stays.Right now (and we all know things can change), it seems like Bayern Munich has shifted its focus fully to WIlliams. Barcola has always seemed like a pipedream and unless something changes in the next few weeks, that is exactly how it will be perceived. For the moment, Williams is the apple of Bayern Munich’s eye. Waiting game for Nkunku with Bayern (Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg)Bayern Munich has Christopher Nkunku on its list, but is not in any rush to make a move for the Chelsea FC man:⤵️ FC Bayern are still monitoring Christopher #Nkunku‘s situation and waiting for market opportunities. Nothing advanced. No offers. Nothing has changed. Further efforts depend on Bayern’s incoming and outgoing decisions in the transfer market. At some point, Bayern Munich will have to make a move for an attacker but Nkunku’s main detriment is he is more effective centrally than outside. As of now, Bayern Munich seems to still favor get a player who is more astute at playing left-wing. Where things stand with Bayern’s transfer options (ESPN)Bayern Munich has a lot of irons in the fire and ESPN compiled a few of them for us: In addition to referencing the Woltemade situation, Sky Sports Deutschland has an update on Bayern Munich’s other interests. There have been new phone calls between sporting director Max Eberl and the agent of Liverpool winger Luis Díaz, who would cost around €70m-€80m. The Bavarians are still monitoring Xavi Simons’ situation at RB Leipzig — who want €80m — but there have been no new concrete talks and there is a similar situation with Chelsea attacker Christopher Nkunku. Chelsea’s Renato Veiga is of interest but Bayern can’t sign a centre-back until Kim Min-Jae is moved on. Finally, any package for Real Madrid’s Rodrygo will likely be too expensive for them.Bavarian Podcast Works — Weekend Warm-up Show Season 4, Episode 51 (Bavarian Football Works)Bayern Munich’s summer transfer window season has been silent since July 1st hit, but there are a lot of rumors swirling. Preston North End v Liverpool - Pre-Season Friendly Photo by Catherine Ivill - AMA/Getty Images Man...Liverpool FC is having quite a summer. Per Sport Bild journalist Christian Falk, the Reds are planning to meet with Bayern Munich soon to discuss a sale of Luis Diaz, where the revenue will be used to pay for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitiké: ✅ There will be a meeting between Bayern and Liverpool for negotiations for a Transfer of Luis Díaz (28) soon❇️ The Poker is influenced by the Transfer of Hugo Ekitiké (23/Eintracht Frankfurt)❇️ Liverpool FC is preparing a mega offer of €100 Mio for Ekitiké. Should Liverpool get their desired player, they can invest the Transfer-fee of DíazAfter swiping Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen (and really Bayern Munich, too) earlier this summer, Liverpool is seeking to land another Bundesliga star. Oh, and if you wondering why FC Barcelona has not been super-active in the Diaz sweepstakes, it could be because Hansi Flick’s club has its eyes on Manchester United attacker Marcus Rashford. Below, is what Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg is reporting on the situation: As exclusively revealed, Marcus #Rashford has been and remains the absolute top priority for FC Barcelona. Hansi Flick has approved Rashford days ago. As reported, Barca are pushing for a loan move, not a permanent deal. Now, the first offer is on the table:A loan with an option to buy after @TheAthleticFC. #MUFC Rashford very keen on the move. Personal terms won’t be an issue. RB Leipzig v Borussia Dortmund - Bundesliga Photo by Luciano Lima/Getty Images Bayern Munich is working to bolster its squad... Bayern set to miss on Simons (Sport Bild’s Christian Falk)Despite recent links to RB Leipzig Xavi Simons, Bayern Munich is expected to miss on the versatile attacker: Bayern Munich could reportedly miss out on Xavi Simons with Chelsea looking to sign him from RB Leipzig. The Blues have already bolstered their attacking ranks by signing Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, and Jamie Gittens but Enzo Maresca is still looking to bring in more players.Chelsea are looking to offload the likes of Raheem Sterling, Joao Felix, and Christopher Nkunku, among others, which will free up space and wages for any potential new signing.Bayern are focusing on signing Luis Diaz from Liverpool, and they will only look for options elsewhere if they fail to secure his services. The German champions made an approach to sign Simons this summer, but as it stands, he remains as a standby option.Max Eberl has a strong connection with Simons, and he would be the first option for Bayern if they fail to land their top targets. However, at this moment, it appears that he will move to the Premier League, with Chelsea making concrete efforts to bring him to Stamford Bridge. What makes this Simons story so interesting is Eberl’s reported “personal” interest in the attacker — which might not jibe with the rest of the decision-makers in the club. RB Leipzig v VfB Stuttgart - 1. Bundesliga Photo by Ulrik Pedersen/NurPhoto via Getty Images Will RB Leipzig keep its start striker? According to a report from transfer journalist Nicolò Schira, RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Šeško has reached an agreement Newcastle United on personal terms. The two clubs, however, would need to come to accord on a transfer fee: Benjamin #Sesko has an agreement in principle with #Newcastle for a contract until 2030. #NUFC are now working to reach a deal with #Leipzig. #transfersNot so fast, though. Both teams have presented their projects and financial offers. #MUFC The decision now lies mainly with the player and his camp. Offers are expected to be formally submitted to RB Leipzig following the verbal agreement. Woltemade pursuit has Bayern puzzled for now (FCB Inside via @iMiaSanMia)Bayern Munich still wants Nick Woltemade...and VfB Stuttgart still does not want to give him up. For Bayern Munich CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen, the situation has been an odd one. “We have a situation that has been talked about often enough. We made an offer. That hasn’t led to any discussions to date – and that’s the status quo. I’ve said elsewhere that I don’t like to talk about players of other clubs, and Nick Woltemade is currently a player of VfB Stuttgart. We’ll see how things develop,” Dreesen told FCB Inside (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “Our industry is so crazy that everything is normal and sometimes abnormal.”When asked if the club would up its offer, Dreesen passed the buck (figuratively, not literally): “I must explicitly say that this is certainly also the task of my esteemed colleague Max Eberl, together with Christoph Freund.”Bayern Munich will likely take another run at this, though it will not be easy. RB Leipzig v VfB Stuttgart - 1. Bundesliga Photo by Ulrik Pedersen/NurPhoto via Getty Images Let’s get into the weekend... Things do not appear to be getting any easier in dealing with VfB Stuttgart for Bayern Munich as Die Schwaben have taken a hardline stance in talks with the Bavarians. Now, Bayern Munich is unsure if it will even present a third offer to Stuttgart, which means the club could be on the prowl for some help in the attack. With recent rumors emerging that Harry Kane could be playing his last season in Bavaria, it might be time for the Bavarians to start looking at options for its next striker. The player would need to be one who could either be a worthy successor to Kane (not an easy task) or someone who can play the No. 10 spot to help cover the loss of Musiala for the first few months of this season. Seemingly, Woltemade could have fit both of those profiles, but if he is off the table, who should Bayern Munich get? Some will point to RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons or Chelsea FC’s Christopher Nkunku, but another player might be a better fit for what Bayern Munich wants to succeed Kane. Simons and Nkunku would each have value as a central attacker, but not as a pure, long-term striker. In addition, each player could be a fit on the wing, which could also be a spot that requires help for the future. Realistically, though, Simons is closing in on a deal with Chelsea FC and Nkunku likely projects to a long-term back-up in Bavaria...so now, what? How about RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Šeško? At one point, Bayern Munich even contemplated playing Šeško and Kane together. Now, though, Bayern Munich might be too far behind Manchester United and Newcastle United to secure the Slovenian star. The Athletic’s David Ornstein checked in with his information: RB Leipzig asking price for Benjamin Sesko ~€75m guaranteed + add-ons & percentage of future sale. Fee expectation communicated to suitors for 22yo striker. #NUFC / #MUFC pursuing but no agreements yet with #RBLeipzig or Slovenia forward. Meanwhile, Fabrizio Romano says that Manchester United is posed to strike for Šeško: Manchester United have informed RB Leipzig that they are prepared to send formal bid for Benjamin Šeško, if player accepts the destination.Newcastle also ready to bid since last week and to match Šeško’s financial request.Decision up to Šeško.So...if Bayern Munich is truly looking for Kane’s successor (which, again, could come into play very soon), it might need to figure out if VfB Stuttgart really is not going to play ball for Woltemade and — if so — how quickly can the club pivot to another target...like Šeško.Time is definitely ticking and it will not be easy to find a successor for Kane this summer or next.Bavarian Podcast Works — Weekend Warm-up Show Season 5, Episode 1Bayern Munich had a busy week, so let’s unwind and break it down. RB Leipzig v VfB Stuttgart - 1. Bundesliga Photo by Ulrik Pedersen/NurPhoto via Getty Images This could be a tough loss for RB Leipzig...
