Their reaction is always the same: "I don't wanna go to the ghetto" 😱
Why?
From Wikipedia: "Ghettos in the United States are typically urban neighborhoods perceived as being high in crime and poverty".
And it's always a surprise when I tell them that #Ghetto ("Gheto" in Venetian) is the name of a small island in Venice that became a worldwide used term since XVI century... they hardly believe me.
Then I tell them the whole story... do you know that?

Francesco Algarotti was born in Venice.
He was a writer, essayist, art collector, polymath, philosopher, poet. Enlightenment spirit, Anglophile, erudite with knowledge ranging from Newtonianism to architecture and music, he was a friend of the greatest personalities of the time such as Voltaire, Lord Chesterfield, Thomas Gray, George Lyttelton, Thomas Hollis, Metastasio, Benedict XIV, Heinrich von Brühl, Frederick II of Prussia.
One of the biggest merits of #Algarotti was to make things simple: an example is his essay "Newtonianism for Ladies"☝️which was intended for the everyday people (and therefore despised by the erudite elitist of the time).
Today the most important Academy school for Tourism and Incoming in Venice is named after him, Istituto d'Istruzione Superiore Francesco Algarotti (see picture 📸☝️): #myguests always learn about it during my fantastic #WalkingTour in Venice 🤟

The most ancient wine place in Bologna (1465!!!) and the only place in #Italy where you can only drink and still bring your food from home... and such food!!! Homemade #lasagne, #tigelle, #piadine, #focaccia, #pizza, #panini... ❤️🔥
