This is the first concrete sign of a permanent increase in the number of troops near the Finnish border.
▪️ Extensive earthworks and the construction of several new buildings have been carried out at the Lupche-Savino garrison, which is part of the town of Kandalaksha. The Lupche-Savino garrison is located in the northwestern part of Kandalaksha, approximately 110 km from the Finnish border. In total, two brigades have been redeployed to the Lupche-Savino area.
Kandalaksha is a key transport hub at the tip of the White Sea.
▪️ Satellite images also show changes at the Sapyornoye garrison on the Karelian Isthmus, which is located about 70 km from the Finnish border.
▪️ In addition, Russia has continued military preparations in Petrozavodsk, the largest city in Karelia. The city is also home to the headquarters of a mixed aviation division, which oversees, among other things, the airbase at the Besovets training ground near Petrozavodsk.
