💠Imam Hasan Askari (A.S.), Source of Knowledge

#Imam_Hassan_Askari (AS) had a brief span of life, only 28 years, but even in this short period, which was furled by a chain of troubles and tribulations, several high-ranking scholars benefited from his ocean of knowledge. Also he stemmed the flood of atheism and disbelief, which ensured, from the philosophers of that age, winning conspicuous success over them. One of those was #Ishaq_al_Kindi, he was writing a #book on what he called “#Self_Contradictions” in the Holy Qur’an. When the news reached the Imam (AS), he waited for an opportunity to refute and rebut him. By chance, some of Ishaq’s #students came to him. Imam (AS) asked them: “Is there anyone among you who can stop Ishaq from wasting his time in this useless effort fighting the Holy Qur’an? The students said: “Sir, we are his students - how can we object to his teaching?” Imam (AS) urged that they could at least convey to their teacher what he had to tell them. They replied that they would be ready to cooperate as much as they could in that respect.
Imam Askari (AS) then recited a few verses from the Qur’an, which the philosopher thought as contradictory of one another. He then explained them, thus: “Your teacher thinks that some of the words in these verses have only one meaning. But according to the #Arabic_language, these words have other meanings too, which, when taken into consideration, indicate no contradiction in the overall meaning. Thus, your teacher is not justified for basing his objections and claim of contradictions on the premises of the ‘wrong meaning’ - he himself selects for such verses.” He then put up some examples of such words before the students so clearly that the students understood the whole discussion and the precedents of more than one meaning.
When these students visited Ishaq al-Kindi and after routine talk, reproduced the disputed points, he was surprised. He was a fair-minded scholar and he listened to his students’ explanations. Then he said: “What you have argued is beyond your capacity; tell me truly who has taught you these points?” The students said that it was their own reflection, but when he insisted that they could never have conceived those points, they admitted that, it was explained to them by Abu Muhammad, Imam Hassan Askari (AS). The instructor said: “Yes! this level of #knowledge is the heritage of that House and only that House.” Then he asked the students to set fire to all such works of his.

▪️A person inquired from Hazrat Zahra (sa):

Did the Prophet (pbuh) explicitly state that Ali (as) is his successor?

Hazrat Zahra (sa) replied:

Wonder! Have you forgotten the day of Ghadir?...

He asked:
Then why did Ali (as) refrain from asserting his right?

Hazrat responded:

The example of the Imam is like that of the Kaaba; people should come to him, and he will not go to anyone...

👤 Giuseppe Apello, a newly converted Muslim from San Dimitrio, Italy:

Rahyafte (The Comprehensive Platform for Missionaries and New Muslims): In an interview, Giuseppe shares his journey into Islam. After converting, he chose the name Mehdi and expressed his lifelong passion for reading, spending most of his pocket money on books.

🔹 "When I learned about Islam, I understood that it’s a religion that highly values knowledge and learning. It pains me when people attack Islam, calling it a backward religion, because I know that this is a lie. I want to prove to them that this is not true."

🔹 He also addresses the misconception of comparing Muslim women to feminist women and European models, stating: "Through translating the book Islam and Women, I want to show that Muslim women have been unfairly portrayed by such media."

Mehdi has translated and published numerous books on Islam and Shia Islam, believing it’s crucial to introduce authentic Islam and Shia to Italians. He strives to present Shia Islam not in a one-dimensional way but in a broader context to foster understanding.

🔸 "We are like a drop in the ocean when it comes to propagating and introducing Shia. It’s a challenging task, but I embrace it because I love my religion. Without this love, I would never be able to do it. I see my work as a form of Jihad for the sake of God, and I strive to promote Shia even with limited resources."

🔹 Reflecting on his earlier years, Mehdi said: "When I was younger, I faced many questions. That’s why I abandoned aerospace studies and sought philosophy, but I didn’t gain much from it. I continued studying and eventually concluded that there are three types of relationships: the relationship between humans and God, between humans and society, and between humans and themselves. I realized that these three relationships must be balanced in life. I then sought balance, which led me to Islam. The beauty of Islam is that it aims to place these three relationships in the right place, creating harmony and peace."

🔹 "In Shia thought, Imam Hussein’s uprising was to establish this balance because a Muslim cannot live with a divided heart. This is why I was drawn to Shia Islam."

🙏 "I pray that all Muslims come closer to one another, so they can better understand their faith and love it deeply."

💫 Ayatollah Haeri Shirazi:

The problem of man lies here:
He feels the pain of his stomach by compulsion — but the pain of his heart, only by choice.

Hunger for food is natural and inevitable,
but hunger for knowledge requires piety —
only a purified heart can feel the need to seek truth.

One may hear that “seeking knowledge is an obligation,”
but truly believing it and acting upon it means one’s soul has already ascended.

Man plans carefully to avoid material harm,
yet remains indifferent to spiritual loss.

🌙 On the Day of Judgment,
he will be questioned about why he sought every doctor for his body,
but ignored the scholars who could heal his soul.

If one travels abroad for eye treatment
but refuses to visit the learned to heal his inner vision,
that very action will become proof against him —
that he knew what to do, yet neglected his eternal self.

🗣️ The Great Debate: How Allamah al-Hilli Led a Sultan to Shi’ism

In the court of Sultan Muhammad Khodabandeh (Öljaitü) of the Ilkhanate, a historical turning point took place—one that reshaped the religious landscape of Iran. The story is narrated by Muhammad Taqi al-Majlisi in his commentary on Man La Yahduruh al-Faqih, and echoed in works like A'yan al-Shia and Rawdat al-Jannat.

---

📖 The Background:
One day, in a fit of anger, the Sultan pronounced three divorces (ṭalāq al-thalāth) to his wife — a critical issue in Islamic law.

📌 What is “Three Divorces” (Ṭalāq al-Thalāth)?
It is a divorce pronounced by a husband three times. According to consensus among Shi‘a and Sunni jurists, a woman who has been divorced three times becomes ḥarām (forbidden) for her former husband to remarry — unless she first marries another man, and after that marriage ends (by divorce or death), she may then return to her first husband.

· Shi‘a View: A triple divorce must occur over three separate sessions — the husband must revoke (rujū‘) or remarry between each pronouncement. Pronouncing three divorces in one sitting is invalid.
· Sunni View: It is permissible to pronounce a triple divorce all at once.

The ruling is derived from Quran, Surah Al-Baqarah, verses 229-230.

After calming down, the Sultan deeply regretted his action and sought a religious solution. The Sunni scholars of the four schools were summoned, but none could offer a way to revoke the divorce.

Then, a minister mentioned a scholar who could solve the issue: Allamah al-Hilli (r.a.).

---

⚔️ The Debate Begins:
A grand assembly was held with scholars from all four Sunni schools present. When Allamah al-Hilli entered, he carried his own shoes and sat beside the Sultan.

When questioned about this unusual act, he replied humorously:
“I feared a Hanafi might steal them, just as their founder stole the Prophet’s (PBUH) sandal!”
The Hanafis protested: “Abu Hanifa wasn’t alive during the Prophet’s time!”
Allamah said: “My mistake—it must have been a Shafi’i!”
And so he repeated the jab for each school, exposing that none of the four founders lived during the Prophet’s era.

Then he turned to the Sultan and said:
“Sunni Muslims have innovated by choosing four imams after the Prophet—while we, the Shi’a, follow Ali (AS), the Prophet’s brother, successor, and the gate to the city of knowledge.”

---

⚖️ The Ruling on the Divorce:
Regarding the Sultan’s divorce, Allamah declared — based on Shi‘a jurisprudence:
“Your divorce is invalid. One condition for a valid triple divorce is the presence of two just witnesses who hear it. Did two just witnesses hear it?”
The Sultan said no.
“Then the divorce never occurred, and your wife is still lawful to you.”

---

🕯️ The Aftermath:
Allamah then engaged in deep theological debate with the Sunni scholars, answering every objection with clarity and proof. By the end, Sultan Muhammad Khodabandeh embraced Shi’ism right there in the assembly.
During his reign, he gave official recognition to the Shi’a faith, marking a pivotal moment in Iranian history.

---

🌟 Lessons from This Event:
✅ Knowledge coupled with courage can change history.
✅ Following the Ahl al-Bayt (AS) means following those directly linked to the Prophet’s legacy.
✅ Sometimes, divine guidance arrives through unexpected debates—and a pair of shoes.

🕋 Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (AS): The Scholar Who Purified Islam & Forged a Secret Network

On the occasion of the blessed birth of Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (AS), we honor the legacy of the 5th Imam, whose 19-year Imamate ignited a profound intellectual revolution in the Islamic world. Known as Baqir al-'Ulum (the Splitter of Knowledge), he laid the foundations for the systematic scholarship that would reach its zenith under his son, Imam Ja'far al-Sadiq (AS). His era saw the formal codification of Shi'a thought in jurisprudence, theology, ethics, and Quranic exegesis [1].

🛡️ The Frontline Battle: Confronting Israeli Forgeries (Isra'iliyyat)

One of Imam al-Baqir's (AS) most critical missions was defending the purity of Islamic teachings from corrupting influences, primarily the infiltration of Isra'iliyyat—fabricated narrations and biblical lore imported by some Jewish converts and scholars into Islamic discourse [1].

These forgeries, often concerning the lives of past prophets, were seeping into mainstream Islamic culture and even the works of renowned figures like the historian and exegete al-Tabari. Imam al-Baqir (AS) actively identified and refuted these falsehoods to protect the sanctity of divine scripture and prophecy [1].

Two Defining Confrontations:

1. The "People of Remembrance": When some claimed the Quranic verse "Ask the People of the Remembrance if you do not know" (16:43) referred to Jewish rabbis, Imam al-Baqir (AS) pointed to his own chest and declared: "We are the People of Remembrance. We are the ones to be asked." This established the Ahl al-Bayt (AS) as the sole, authoritative source for understanding the Quran [1, 2].
2. The Kaaba's Sanctity: When a man cited the Jewish scholar Ka'b al-Ahbar's claim that the Kaaba prostrates to Bayt al-Maqdis (Jerusalem) every morning, the Imam angrily refuted it, stating: "You and Ka'b are both lying! Allah has not created a spot on earth more beloved than this (the Kaaba)." This defense protected the unique spiritual status of Islam's central sanctuary [1, 3].

🤫 The Hidden Organization: Building the "Companions of the Secret"

Beyond public teaching, Imam al-Baqir (AS) undertook a crucial, clandestine project: building a resilient, secret network of loyal representatives (wikala). He specially trained and elevated key disciples—known as the "Ashab al-Sirr" (Companions of the Secret), like Jabir ibn Yazid al-Ju'fi—and strategically positioned them across the Islamic world [1, 4].

This covert organizational model served to:

· Continue his teachings and guidance under the radar of oppressive authorities.
· Collect religious dues (khums).
· Maintain a cohesive link between the Imam and the dispersed Shi'a community.
· This system was perfected by his successors and became the backbone of Shi'a organization during periods of severe persecution.

Imam al-Baqir's (AS) life was a masterful balance of open scholarly jihad to purify doctrine and discreet structural jihad to ensure the survival and continuity of the true faith. His legacy is not just one of knowledge, but of strategic wisdom and unwavering defense of Islamic truth.
